Hi guys having mental thoughts of converting a Renault F4R rwd , what options have I got box wise I can’t see any options so I know a lot of stuff will be custom . Type 9? Mtx75 ? Or Mazda ? I know there will be a need for an adapter plate but does anyone have any wisdom on this topic ?

As that motor is a development of the f7p, You could start with a Volvo 340 bellhousing, should bolt straight up and starter and clutch work etc.
Then redrill/adapter plate the back of the bellhousing to take whatever separate-bellhousing rwd box. A type 9 would probably work.

I think the thought was to use the 340 bellhousing which gives you a flat base to bolt another gearbox to - such as type 9?

Why the F4R and not something more cost effective to maintain?
I've had a couple of RS clios with the f4r and changing the timing belt/dephaser/waterpump/aux bet and the rest to service it is ~£450-500 in parts alone and a bit of a ballache to fit without the right timing tools.
I'd be going down the K (Or even H) series Honda route, plenty of them have been converted to RWD and parts/knowledge are plentiful.
