Springs can be had in somewhere between 25-40mm lower, i'd go 30mm for best all round balance. My Mk1 Sharan (AFN 1.9tdi non PD) was on 198k when I outed it only because doing the clutch was more than the car was worth. Always sad when a good car dies as result of a costly failure. Springs, if affordable sound like a good idea. Sensibly low, rather than smacked down. Rian - Has you are a vehicle owner on a budget first thing I would do is get the registration number on it valued and see if you can creep a few hundred quid back into the pot - it might not be worth anything or the effort of doing it in the first place - then again you maybe pleasantly surprised - it costs nothing to ask that was pretty much my first thought.... after remembering an "interesting" trip up the m5/m6 in a mates one that had an ecu glitch with a tendancy to cut out occasionally. he only preformed the key off /wait a second/key on trick to get it going again a few times...in lane 3...at speed!! as gn said rian , if you aren't fussed about he plate , get it advertised. nothing to loose. random thought for the makeover , and knowing your penchant for murican stuff... how about a faux/naff woody conversion?? I am quite happy to leave the plate where it is for now. The car will have to let me know what it needs to be done. I used to run my 1.9tdi galaxy on Audi A4 B6 sport wheels. 7.5j x 17. They filled the arches nicely. The offset on original wheels sit in far too much. Look forward to seeing it. Can't find a pic at the moment, they are a nice chunky 5 spoke design so suited the silver car well Could work if they are sensibly priced. No use adding £400.00 in wheels to a £700.00 car.

I've had two of these, well the ones with the seat badges on. An r reg with the old vw mechanical pump TDI engine in that I used to run on veg oil and a later 52 plate one with the pd vw engine in. I was using it for pizza delivery through week and as a van to tow the caravan at weekends with my motorbike in the back and the seats removed. Did 25k a year for a good few years and never had any real problems despite the abuse. I actually sold the 52 plate one my dad when I finished Uni and didn't need it any more who ran it for another 5 year without incident. I'd say both were the best cars/vans I've ever had

Had a nearly new W reg 2.3 manual back in the married with kids days. Really good family car. We removed the two rear seats to give a huge boot.
Speaker grilles don't survive contact with feet.

Continuing the clean up and getting to know the Galaxy carried on, on Sunday afternoon. While Sally cleaned her car, I took a pic of the Berlingo and Galaxy together. Not easy to see the difference in size between them. Once again, she just is not shy when it comes to getting busy and helping with any jobs that need doing. Treasures and junk in equal measure came out. Playstation2 DVD’s screens, controllers, asthma pumps, junk to be dumped. Bits to be rescued, and refitted. Next up, remove the HEAVY rear seats in order to clean out the rear, I am one seat short that I forgot at the sellers on the day. Will collect it some time. Shark vacuum cleaner made quick work after brushing out the bulk. Job done. Space. Command station. So trying to pay the road tax online, a problem became apparent The car had been put into a different tax category for the previous owner. Poop. Called the DVLA helpline and told to go to post office in person and do a written change of Tax Class. Once done, it was pay the £325.00 road tax and we were in business...... More later.

I'd say both were the best cars/vans I've ever had It seems most people speak really well about them. Flimsy, not top end build quality etc, but they seem to deliver. It’s a testament to them all, being used as mini cabs, and seeing 200k examples still making crazy money. seem to be a bit few and far between with a bit of spangle sprinkled on them , this one looks good though... Indeed, I have seen a few on the FB owners page. Like those wheels, and for 17” they seem to really fill the arches. seem to be a bit few and far between with a bit of spangle sprinkled on them , this one looks good though... Went to look around the owners site. Struggling to find any pics of them from a distance Fair enough, thanks anyway. Had a nearly new W reg 2.3 manual back in the married with kids days. One of the speaker grilles on this one has been kicked too. I think they deliver for families. And guys like me.

Part of my “Phased Return” to work after that Cardiac event in early October has been working from home, doing a lot of legal online training and other tasks. Harley has enjoyed my time at home too. And summer is gone, but winter sunspots still abound if you know where to look. Today my “Lunch Break” was spent quickly using Sally’s Vax wet carpet and upholstery cleaner to attack the front seats of the Galaxy as they would have given a forensic examiner the horrors, a combination of what looked like incontinence meets McDonalds coffee meets cold weather fishing lunch breaks covered the front seats. Sadly I did not take any pics before as I was in such a hurry to get done and back to my desk. The sucked up, after the job water was grey, murky and quite gross. After the big clean I was very pleased. What the “before” seats looked like. A few people have asked about stickers. I had planned to add a “Not a Project” Chevy Blazer sticker as a nod to this...... forum.retro-rides.org/thread/206373/grizz-2wd-chevy-blazer-paint but decided against it for now, till I have an idea where to stick it, if I even do. Rear end. Up close....... And then Last pic for the day. Inside and outside now cleaned up. Looking at the wheel arches, 16” wheels in place, but still very tall, so really does need a hit with the lowering stick at some point. also taxed and on the road, so hopefully use it over the weekend, just because we can. watching Guy Martins Worlds Fastest Tractor. Looking forward to seeing where you end up going with this one, it looks huge inside! Excuse me if I missed it but is this a larger capacity load hauler to replace the Berlingo or an extra addition to the fleet? Not that you can ever have too many!

A few things Berlingo vs Galaxy Sheer load capacity. Bigger Volume Towbar. Fair cost to add one. Engine capacity. 1.4 vs 2.3 and 70 vs 140 bhp. Berlingo could stay but justifying tax and insurance here when I have a daily for work, and my luggers do less than 3k miles of important work per year, the Berlingo will be sold on or traded for a first born son. One parcel from Russia delivered by courier early today just as I left for work. Thank you very much Vladimir I will open it later.

Sounds like a well-thought through decision then. The 2.3 is the same series as the 2ltr fitted to the Mk5/6? Escort RS2000 I think, so quite a capable engine.

Posted a question on a FB owners group. Funny how there always has to be one....... Chose not to even reply because he just would not understand But good news regardless as long as one can get them fitted without losing fingers or eyes. Looks like stuff is happening here.

Could do with that for the back of the discovery, will you go for the 'ribbed' version When I restored a horse box some years ago I got hold of some old conveyor belt, very thick and heavy but ideal for a trailer.

the narrow ribbed stuff is a total s#*t trap! found a nice heavy duty wide ribbed mat for the back of my old samurai at our local "go to for odd tat" shop.
