So this is the car - 1929 Model A Ford high boy pick-up. I bought the model kit a few years ago and it has sat unopened until recently. Finding myself away from home during the week, I was looking around for something to do in my evenings and this seemed ideal. I’m not intending the model to be 100% accurate but it will certainly be styled on my pick-up and a good representation.
Obviously the headlamps would require modification (after dechroming). First, horn removed and fitted to the chassis rail as per the actual car, license plate removed (later reused for an exhaust hanger for the side exit exhaust).
Cutting off the ends and swapping sides gave something like the actual car. Slightly lower and not 100% accurate but maintaining strength and alignment was more important.
