Voltage Stabiliser

Hello,
I wonder if anyone can advise. I have owned my Victor for four years now and the temp gauge has never registered. I have changed the temp sender unit which made no difference and have tried power to the clock itself and the temp needle goes up to hot. I'm assuming that means that the clock itself is working, and I know that the voltage stabiliser controls the fuel and temp gauge, I have no problem with the fuel gauge so could the voltage regulator be faulty or could there be some other underlying problem? If it is the regulator has anyone any idea where i could obtain one? Thank you in advance, regards,

Hi, If the gauge works when powered directly and the fuel gauge functions as normal that suggests to me the voltage stabiliser is OK. There are possible failure points, either the sender is U/S, the wire between the sender and the PCB is broken or there's a broken track on the PCB. Taking the lead off the sender and earthing it to see if the gauge works will indicate which one it is.

You’ve confirmed that the gauge works.

Take the connector off the temp sender and earth it on the engine somewhere - the gauge should go to full scale. If not there’s a break in the wire or you’re not getting 10v from the VS.

Check for 10v (with ignition on) from the VS at the back of the gauge.

If both of these work, the sender is duff.

There were a lot of different senders used over the years on the Victor models, It may have the wrong sender unit
