Hi, I've just fixed a water leak in my car but the carpet like soundproofing is soaked under the carpet in the passenger footwell.
Can you recommend any ways of removing the moisture? Those silica filled plastic dehumidifier things any good?

Hi, Half filled open margarine tubs with either rice or salt in, microwave them to dry them out and go round again.

If it's really wet, you will have to lift it all out and dry on the line.

Need to lift the carpets and the sound deadening to get air in there, bu as mentioned, getting it out is easier. I've cut it into easier footwell sized bits to get it out, dripping wet.
discovered 1/2" of warer running backwards and forwards under the carpet of my Alfa 159 when I bought it and couldn't work out why it kept steaming up (tiny gap in seam sealant under the scuttle). Disovered the sound deadening was moulded to the rear of the carpets.

Remove the carpet and put a heater under the car under the wet area?

I managed to dry the carpets and sound deadening in my daughters street ka by lifting them about 6" and leaving a fan heater blowing underneath for a day.
