Ok clever retrorides people I have a CCTV system set up with its own hard drive and screen, it connects to the BT wifi router thingy and we can view it remotely by an app on our mobile phones but what I would like to do is view it on the PCs that are not wireless but hardwired to the BT router network??
I can be a bit dim when it comes to computer stuff so is that possible? the CCTV has an IP address which I assume is something I need?
Help, my knowledge is exhausted on this subject!

For my CCTV, the people who make the app also have a website allowing you to log in. Thats how i do it at work when i don't use my phone. I'm sure there are ways of using the network IP address of the CCTV box to do the same if at home and on the same network.

Many CCTV DVRs (the box that does the recording) don't have any open-to-end-user ports (except Telnet in some cases), so you need to use the manufacturer app.

Yes, As toast00 mentioned above. I also have a system that when you view it on its OWN screen (plugged directly into the DVR), gives you a app/web address within the setting menu. As per most phone apps, the web view doesn't allow full access to all setting/menus for obvious security reasons.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I think I might have found a way to do it, going to have an uneducated fiddle over the weekend!
So next week will see me mainly posting on a different PC due to uneducated fiddling with this one....

I have a Swann CCTV system installed, it has its own App for phones etc, but also a program for a PC, likely yours will too.
I am quite techy, but struggled to get it working, in fact I got it working by accident, and have never messed with it since, and its been fine
if anyone else has CCTV cameras, do you get spiders etc on them? cobwebs across the infrared etc?
