Will Retro Rides Weekender 2020 be going ahead?
This is the question we're getting asked a lot at the moment. Right now the very short answer is "Hopefully".
The slightly longer answer depends really on what the government’s plan for the next two or three months is. The situation is changing on a daily basis. Last night’s press briefing talked of twelve weeks until we've stemmed the tide of the virus, which implies end of June before extraordinary measures are lifted. As an event that is running within that time frame we have to seriously consider the possibility we'll be cancelled or postponed. We have a meeting with Goodwood next week to discuss our options in the eventuality that May 16th and 17th become un-workable.
We're able to get our event set up in a relatively short amount of time, however we do need a few weeks for getting passes and tickets out (as well as promotion), to this end we'll be making a firm decision by the week of the 20th April, unless something more substantial is forced on all events beforehand. We hope that the picture at that point will be a bit clearer.
What will happen if you are cancelled of postponed?
If we find that the event is flat out cancelled, we will be refunding tickets and then start work towards 2021. If we are able to postpone in a sensible manner (dates and virus situation permitting) we will offer refunds or to carry over your ticket to the rescheduled date.
Will Retro Rides Gathering 2020 be going ahead?
This is currently a little clearer, mainly because if we're still all living as we are now by the end of August, I suspect we'll have more problems to worry about than our car show. Shelsley Walsh have put all events on hold until the end of June. We've already got a great line up of guest cars coming together. We've delayed opening club stand booking for the time being whilst we work out what is going on with Weekender.
Thank you so much for patience whilst we try and navigate these challenging times. We will be providing further updates in due course.

My best wishes go out to all of you. IMO people on this website are united by the interest in Vehicles of a wide range, Hot Rods, Classics, Modified, Racing to name a few. I, as with many of you, have purchased my ticket for the 2020 Weekender and look forward very much to the event going ahead and hopefully being selected to be on track, viewing all types of vehicles, attending the Auction and bidding or watching people bid on unusual items all in the need of raising money for charity and ,of course taking an interest in what's on display and talking with the proud owners. We learn much from the owners and vehicles, and they act as an inspiration to us all. No doubt, Retro Rides, like so many are monitoring the situation and will keep us all informed as and when they can release information. I would like this event to continue but only if it is safe to do so. I also wish to support or insure Retro Rides continue in these challenging times and I personally would be happy to defer my 2020 ticket over to 2021 whereby I'd hope the Weekender will return even better. Like so many, I'm isolating and looking forward to the time I can take a ride in my wee ute. I wish you all the very best in these testing times and, BE SAFE.

/\ agree fully with that, ticket is bought. Without wishing to be insensitive, If I was refunded it wouldn’t make a massive difference in the overall scheme of things to me, I guess my problems are either bigger or smaller than that. I’m hoping it can still go ahead, but like everyone else, wouldn’t want to second guess the situation..... it’s not as if another event has turned up I could go to instead, I suspect if we can’t go to this I’ll be staying at home. So happy to leave money in the pot if it of an use to do so, and will look forward to this or future events

Lol If it goes ahead, great, if it doesn't then never mind. I'm only eager to find out as I've not booked it off work yet...

MrsSE has said it's been cancelled, posted on Facebook (which I don't have)...? Is that the case? Probably Mrs SE’s way of saying if we’re not going on holiday you’re not going to a car show! Maybe she just meant it’s very unlikely rather than an official announcement.
