I actually LIKE the K series engine! As usual with BL, it came to the market incompletely developed but the head problem is now well understood and easily solved. I've done a large number of K series head gaskets _ but i've never had to do one twice!
I't's a cracking little motor otherwise, in all forms from 1.4 up to the KV6, free revving, strong and light.
The diesel, developed from a BMW design is even better, it's effectively bulletproof. A guy I know bought 150 of these diesel engines for very little money when Rover went to the wall, in anticipation of future demand. He's yet to sell a single one!
