I have been chasing a high idle problem for ages now and I can only think that the car needs to be put on a pdu (special jaguar diagnostic tool from way back when) to reset it, I took it to a specialist but their work was woeful and made it worse if anything 1500 rpm on cold start until warm only dropping to 1200rpm when warm. I had to change the throttle body because someone had cross threaded one of the threads for the idle control valve and I've changed the ICV for a new one, the specialist was very cagey about what he'd changed but he definitely changed the maf for a secondhand unit although didn't tell me?
I'm at my wits end, does anyone know where I can have the car reset or put on diagnostics in the north west?

I picked up a Lucas diagnostic setup from the 1990s recently which comes with a stupendous amount of different plugs and software modules - I’ll see if one of them “talks Jaguar”. There’s certainly a LandRover cable in the collection. Most of the stuff is that era - ore-OBD1 to early OBD2.
How much it can do I’m not sure but willing to have a dig around?

That would be great Phil, thanks. It is OBD so that's a start. Where in blighty are you?

Just outside Leek, Staffs.
I spotted you were looking at a guy in Macc for wheels so you can’t be too far away?

VitesseTony, I can't help you myself but get across onto XJ40.com, there's a bucket load of knowledge across on there and they're great guys. Hope you're sorted soon. Best. Carsie

When I had my x300, I'm pretty sure I remember some discussion about TPS adjustment causing idle issues? Could that be something to look into, it's likely that if the throttle body has been changed that the TPS will have been moved/swapped and could be causing the ECU some confusion?
