My new (to me) daily is made up of panels from different cars, spray paint, marks from debadging and scratches. It’s never going to be perfect, but I feel that giving it a good go over would help tie it together slightly.. . Can anyone recommend something to do the job. I’m not planning on staring a new career as a detailer (although I have had to wet sand some of the scratches out of the above!) ^^ That makes it sound kinda epic...it’s really not..it’s a focus. So here is a picture of my Capri when it was in its mismatch panels phase as penance

i brought a cheap one years ago and as soon as it touched the car it would slow down or stop completely totally lacking in any kind of power at all (plug in the wall type) so never used it again might of been advertised as a polisher not a mop cant remember but was absolute rubbish, So went back to T cut and rags which i hate for a few more years and never enjoyed doing it so did it as little as possible. A little while ago had a bit of spare time on my hands (covid) so thought now is the time so looked and looked and its a mine field wasnt going to buy cheap again but didnt know the difference between a £60 or £200, And is the £200 just an over priced £60 one, Then corded or battery long story not short i brought a makita dpo600z with 2 batteries and a charger for me it was very expensive at £430 i did see it cheaper on some web sites but then showed no stock or the dealer had bad reviews so went to local tool specialist and got a big bag to keep it all in as well. One battery would do a small/ Medium car just about but 2 batteries will do a large vehicle with loads of charge left compounding and then polishing after, one battery lasts longer than the other takes to charge so you always have a charged battery, no slowing or struggling at all, i am very pleased with it and no cable on the floor laying in water to electrocute myself. BUT i am not a professional detailer or a valeter so they may have a different opinion but i would recommend it if you can stretch to the cost, think i have done 4 cars now and sad as it sounds enjoyed doing them.

I bought a cheap Argos DA Polishing mop For about £60 I’ve lost count of how many sets of headlights I’ve done with it and I have mopped my Merc GL (removed some scratches and stuff) and a few other cars, seems to work just fine

it is difficult, i brought a cheap Argos sander and to be fair they did replace it about 3 times as it burnt out or broke every time i used it but the last one has lasted to being out of warranty so do i buy more expensive next time or just keep taking cheap one back and moaning.

I have one of these, Silverline polisher/sander its about £60ish for the 1500w or about £10 less for the 1200w. Mines the 180mm 1500w with variable speed. Its a bit heavy for some but I'm a big chap so I find it ok. I don't use the pads that come with it, I use those coloured pad thingys for polishing. Its also a sander which is handy for the odd DIY sanding task.

Sparkie83 I'll sell you this for £250 if your interested meguires mt320 machine only used a couple times and most of the pads and bottles are still unopened. It's a full paint restoration kit. Cheers for the offer 88zxturbo, but it’s more than I really wanna spend. I’m not one for washing/detailing my cars
