There's a few seasons on Netflix. It follows pensioner Mike Hall in his mission to restore some of the 400 cars he's amassed over the years. I watched it, was put off, but then went back to it last week. It's not particularly technical, there's the usual amount of staged drama, it's pretty Americanised but I think its heart is in the right place. Anyone else seen it?

So weird, first night I’ve had the tv to myself so just about to put it on.
Will comment later once I’ve watched a few episodes.

Love it! watched all thats up there so far. I find it hard to believe they are taking those wrecks and doing them to that standard alone. I love it though. Started following Avery on Instagram!

Just finishing season 1. I enjoy it. It’s super light on the detail and they always find a suspiciously large amount of what they need in local yards (I don’t know maybe rust valley really does have that many scrappers) but the characters are well presented. Mike is very charismatic more so than the other resto shop series and his relationships with his son and Avery are nicely shown. The final cars are cool although I’ve read some really aren’t meant to ever see the road again while other full restos are apparently awesome. They could probably lay off the “if we don’t sell a car we are bust” schtick a bit. 8/10.

I really wish they’d just make a show that skips all the drama curse word.
They’ve got some nice cars, and are in an interesting part of the world. It would be awesome to learn more about the Canadian car culture because all we ever really see is America, but all that stuff is hidden behind all the staged stuff.
I’ve watched the first two seasons and will watch the third, but I’m going to complain the whole time.

I've watched it all and enjoyed it, I keep meaning to look up the exchange rather for Canadian dollars to see how much the cars are selling for.

Watching it at the minute think I’ve got the last bits I’d season three to watch
The we are going broke line is starting to get a bit tedious

I really wish they’d just make a show that skips all the drama curse word. Hot Rod Garage do that, Tony and Lucky are always complaining saying "If we don't do yadda yadda, then we're going to lose the shop!" Laugh, then carry on messing about.

I love it , Mike has a heart of gold helping all his staff out and love the way he goes out for a car door and returns with another car. I think its any easy watch but would like more detail on the builds but don't we all.

Yeah, we've been here before with so many car shows but the fact is you'd lose the majority of viewers by slowing it down to go into specifics of bodywork and engine repair/fitting. As you say I don't really feel like the guys are acting (unlike some other shows). Mike and Avery are a good pair because they're so different and you can feel how Mike's son is desperate for him to make sensible decisions...but he never does.

I have watched the first 2 series. It's obvious that a lot is played to the cameras but one thing is certain: they're real enthusiasts. Mrs Bounce made me laugh - she said that Mike Hall looks a bit stinky and that he needs a bath Avery is a bit averse to health and safety (come on we've all done it) and appears to be a bit of a nutcase but overall they're a fun bunch to watch. I noticed that the 3rd series has appeared on Netflix so I will give that a look.

It’s just an American car show thing (& other shows no doubt) fake dead lines, drama about this that & the other. It just spoils the shows imo. Not seen this, but they are all Pretty much the same from that point of view

I've seen season 1 and most of season 2. The thing that strikes me the most that I can't get past is how much Avery looks like a cross between Super Mario and Ron Jeremy.

Just a short note last year we were driving from Vancouver to Toronto we passed through the area that this is filmed in and it is full of old cars all over the place, old cars are big in this part of Canada thats why spares are easy to get. We were driving past a scrap yard and as usual we stopped to take pictures and there were literally hundreds of old yank cars there, then a little further down the road was this hotrod shop so we stopped again to have a look and who should walk around the corner but Mike from the rust vally show. We got talking and he was a great bloke spent nearly an hour with him and he showed us all around the workshop and the cars they were working on it was the highlight of the road trip

I’ve not watched it but will give it a try after seeing this thread.
I can’t remember the last time I watched a car show as I lost track of what were new series and what were repeats but classified as new because they’d moved channels.

Utter Sh*te. Does anyone really believe a second of it? Almost as bad as Goblinworks garage. I used to watch pretty much all the motoring stuff going, but the fake drama got too much. I pretty much stick to Motortrend and Youtube now.

I'm same, since Sky moved all the dicovery stuff to a new number & spread them all over the place, I have hardly watched them as I can never find them. What was so bad about them all being grouped together where they were.
