A simple 1995 Mk3 Vauxhall Astra ‘Merit’, named Betsie. She features mod cons such as central locking and a drivers airbag! With simple engineering and not much to go wrong with her! With the added benefit of some exercise when winding windows up and down.
She drives great and has been used as a daily driver for over 5 years. All seats and carpets are very clean and tidy. Brilliant fuss free car, well designed and everyone can repair and maintain them. Car is in good condition for age and milage, but please be aware that the car is over 25 years old so its has various small imperfections. Getting rare to see on the roads - A future classic and will bring back memories to many of us. The 1.4cc engine is very cheap to run and tax. Would make a great retro ride/sleeper or new driver/first car. Betsie has a big box of history and receipts going back to 2008/9, which some are from the previous owners. I have listed the more recent ones including the engine rebuild due to the Head Gasket blowing. Service Book is stamped up until 2007 and then receipts are generally included thereafter.
I will also include a Haynes manual as this is a car that you can change your own spark plugs / leads /distributor caps and a handbrake etc completely at your control!, not to mention being able to replace your own headlight bulbs - try that now with some cars - dealer only probably!

Good points:
Very comfortable
No Slouch - for a 1.4 drives pretty quickly
Has had many parts replaced
Not much can go wrong! being a Merit
Four good tyres
Still has an untouched rear parcel shelf
Car has a box full of previous service history which is included.
Recent Rover MG wheel trims (these look the closest to Merit trims I could find)
Bad points:
No stereo is included with the car. The wiring is fine and adapter is attached to covert Vauxhall wiring to a newer stereo
Headlining is coming unstuck
Rear reversing lights are very temperamental
Drivers side mirror does not adjust from inside very well
Slight rust patch (which has been looked after) on drivers side wheel arch
Rear arches have a little bit of rust coming/has been painted over
Bonnet has quite a few stone chips which have been touched up
No Boot carpet - however there is a plastic custom fit tray which is better anyway
