Here is a car which I have owned for 30 odd years. It was my daily driver when I was in my twenties. It survived a low speed crash with a jellymould Granada the first day I bought it. The Humber bent a bumper & damaged some trim, the Granada was written off. It hasn't been on the road for over ten years & it is due a rework. It has been living outside under a sheet all winter while the workshop got done up ready. Here it is on the table ready for initial measurements. I think the word is Restomod. The idea is to add more cylinders but keep the rest of the car original. Maybe some air, certainly some American wheels & sidepipes.
Here are drawings scaled off several manuals & books. Loos like its going to be tight.

This ought to be cool. I always liked these, especially that up and over windscreen. Kind of always dreamt about making a coupe version...photoshop was as close i ever got....

Really nice photoshop work but the cool glass line dictates everything so it must stay as is.

The screen is just laid back, not chopped. But it would be an insane amount of work to pull off.

That looks even better than the two door Sceptre somebody built about 15 years ago. I put a 2,8 Granada V6 in a Superminx, and there isn't really room for the exhausts and steering drop arms......

When I was a kid cars seemed to have faces. The Ford anglia looked like it was grimacing. These sceptres looked like they had a moustache.was it just me? Please say no.

I know it is tight. The Rover is too long & too wide. Time for beer & sketches again. The steering is awful anyway. Rack and pinion gets rid of the steering box & drag link. I am thinking about re working the water pump & timing cover. I think a new clip is the way ahead.

The Rover is a big, long and wide engine. I'd recommend going for a 289 or 302 Ford engine instead. Ok they are heavier, but they are 60 degree V engines as against the std 90 degree so are quite narrow and are a lot shorter than the Rover.
More power for your £ to tune & cheaper than the Rover for parts and spares as well.

I'm suprised it's such a tight fit they manage to squeeze them into a MGB etc, if you need a short nose water pump you can get a buick one from rock auto for around £50 though you will need a car front cover if yours has come out of a 4x4.

Looking forward to this build. Just an aside for information, the Minx / Sceptre was the source of components for the Sunbeam Alpine into which the legendary Caroll Shelby of Cobra and Mustang fame, shoehorned the Ford 260 and 289 V8 to create the Sunbeam Tiger. The Alpine was based on a modified Hillman Husky floorpan.

Compact engine though unless you go for the 351W as it's taller

Advice still stands to the op though as the 289 would fit a lot easier.
