That looks doable, the TR8 has the bottom of the radiator further forward than the top, something similar could give you more room where you need it, if you need a short water pump Buick ones are cheap from the US but you will need a car front cover the 4x4 ones have a different higher pump, blanking it off and fitting an electric pump would save loads of room. Is there an off the shelf kit for the bmw box?, I'm on my 3rd LT77! Don't know about the BMW box but there are kits advertised for Toyota and Mazda boxes.

I've not got much to add - but your through approach looks great. I wish you luck

e39 5 series BMW V8s are nice, you could get a whole rusty car for 1K, rear suspension is all quite nice and comes on it's own ali subframe, although a 1 series subframe might be a better width

As a curveball how about a rusty SLK 230 as a donor? Nice bulletproof engine and a supercharger to boot, close to 200 BHP and the option of upgrading the pulleys. Pick up one with a pair of rusty wings it'd probably be no more than £500. Right set up too.
I've bookmarked this - am interested no matter what engine goes in!
