Reduce the Tax exemption age for classic cars to 30 years

Somewhat counterintuitive reasoning on there "to help young people afford classic cars", when most classics get a corresponding purchase price increase once they hit the free tax point...

If you are a younger enthusiast then generally speaking you'd be buying a smaller engine car, and the tax rate for those is £170. If you can't afford that then I'd suggest classic car ownership isn't going to be for you. The cost of insurance for young drivers, classic car or not, is a much bigger issue than tax I would wager.

Not to mention the PR issue of a government being pressured to bring in green technologies etc. Suddenly giving a tax break to people with a 1990s car, which is hardly historic.

I don't want to be negative but it doesn't seem like a great idea to me 😕

Also not wanting to rock the boat, we are luck to have the 40yr exemption.
