Just a quick question to the hoardes of benz owners on here - is there a mercedes equivalent of places like fritz bitz for bmw or neo bros for saabs - which do work on merc's or specialise in used/new/recon parts for mercs? Thanks for any help in advance. Niom niom niom

Thanks for any help in advance. Niom niom niom I have no idea as to specialists, but that is perhaps the finest wheel choice I've ever seen on that style Merc. Holy crappola, I can now see some large split rim Minilite style rims, a early 70s can-am style paint job and me in a pair of killer strides. I'm sure somebody will be along with some far more constructive content shortly.

Couple of breakers I've used in the past: Boss Parts in Leeds and Mercman in Southampton. Neither are cheap as far as 2nd hand bits go, but both do mail order Come on, get some pics up!

Mercman's a savage - he charged me BIG money for moody parts twice now. Not impressed.
Post what you need and I'll ask my people what they can do for ya!

Try Mercman, they're based down the coast from you in Southampton. I don't know how to post a link to their website but its 'www.mercman.net'. they have a stock of merc V8 engines covering most years, worth a try as they're nearly on your doorstep!

Mercman's a savage - he charged me BIG money for moody parts twice now. Not impressed. Sometimes I'm glad things happen the way they do. On other forums I go on, I log on as Mercman. I wasn't able to do that on Retro and after reading this thread I'm really glad I couldn't! ;D

Show us what you got tig!
Cant confirm or deny parts supply, the main dealer, and once or twice German and Sweedish have sorted me out.

Yeah main stealer's parts supply is excellent. I use them for little bits, although for big stuff I'd need a mortgage so I tend to look elsewhere! ;D You can get any part for any Mercedes though, which is so fantastically useful that I really can't believe they're still doing it.
Didn't know about Mercman's shenanigans. It's been a few years since I've used them...

Yeah, he's been nothing short of appaling every time I've used him. Expensive, bad parts, poorly described. I'd give hime a wide berth - there are plenty more people offering a better price and service out there.

Oh, and once I got a quote from him for a used somethingorother - it was £120 (£10 more expensive than an OEM GSF part and just £30 cheaper than a jen-you-wine Benz part).

The bits are for this old beast, tis a 420 with a moody V8 that I am expecting to let go soon. So am starting to hunt for somewhere that would be able to supply a guaranteed runner engine. Also i want to make every little thing work on it, so I'm sure i'll need a haul of little odds and sods.

I've found Europarts to be good on stock, even with some very odd stuff.
I needed a front lower control arm for my W220 this week as the airbag lower mounting bush had collapsed. MB wanted a small mortgage and a 3 week wait for it. That's not an option as my car is my living. Europarts had it in stock and 'how many would you like sir?'
That's service! ;D
