Just heard about this, on yahoo news (make of that what you will) Meant to be a way or reducing carbon emissions, apparently farming can still use it. First I'd heard about it

How does that reduce emissions though? It’s the same as white diesel but with dye added

How does that reduce emissions though? It’s the same as white diesel but with dye added I assume they think that it will force the construction industry to go electric!

Think it's more do do with revenue than emissions

How is this relevant to cool old cars? Will likely force shows and events that rely on Diesel generators to increase their prices to cope possibly? I know that the Santa Pod Racers club have increased the price significantly for the pit power that they provide due to essentially being forced to pay pump prices for generator fuel.

As far as I know they're also banning it for farming, but farmers will be able to get claim back the excess cost to make the price equivalent to red.
It's also banned for refrigeration wagons, so the cost of transporting those goods will go up too.
Fuel theft will go crazy from plant machinery as they're designed to be drained down easily and it'll now be completely untraceable.

How is this relevant to cool old cars? There will definitely be a knock-on effect, there always is, even if it's not immediately obvious

I think these days remote power can be solar and batteries, especially in summer. I don't like going to events such as music festivals and seeing big generators.

How is this relevant to cool old cars? Only really relevant to those running Cool old Tractors as they were about the only thing allowed to run on the road with Red - Now when they are out tooling around in/on their Lambo, DB30, or Porsche they will have to pay full duty As RR covers Cars, Vans, Pick-ups, and Trucks - why exclude Tractors - pretty sure there is a Tractor thread - are they not just scene setting DONK off-roaders ? - Classified as daily drivers out here in the sticks.

The replacemnt is already being sold in construction with red to be phased out by next month Green D+ HVO or Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, is a fossil-free, paraffinic fuel made from 100% renewable raw materials. A drop in replacement for Diesel. 30% lower NOX levels. Green D+ HVO generates up to 90% less CO2, Particulates are lowered by over 86%

What cars will run on heating spec kerosene? Probably a matter of time before they whack full fuel duty onto that also.

On old suitable mech pump's you need to mix it somewhere between 3:1 and 6:1 with something oily and then it'll be fine. It'll eventually cause valve seat recession but only minor over a huge amount of miles.
