RC Truck Nationals 2024 - a continuation photo thread

We took the trucks to the RC Truckers National at the weekend, thought the photos deserved their own thread as there are so many of them and there were plenty of retro trucks on display. Pics are a little jumbled. We had a great time despite consuming 1 million beers Saturday night. Probably the last people to go to bed on the camp site. Whoops. Enjoy!

Lots of time, skill and money in that hall. Such a varied selection of trucks, trailers and loads.
The effort put into some of the truck parks etc alone is amazing.

I have a question, what of speed can your trucks get up to along the long straights? I assume they
are geared more for pulling than going quick.

Some really pretty kit on display wasn't there!
The Yellow sleeper has an upgraded torque motor (80T 540 brushed) through a stock Tamiya 3 speed constant mesh transmission, then has an auxiliary 3:1 transmission so barely gets above walking pace, but it does mean it struggles with nothing on a decent footing. My daycab however is just the upgrade motor and stock transmission so has a moderate turn of speed, probably a brisk jog at full chat in 3rd. I'll have to do some speed work-outs when I get chance, see what the actual and scale speed really is.

You know what, I hadn’t even considered that. But now I am considering that. No one would even understand it which makes it a great conversation starter at stuff like this. Plus, as much as they are nice and I see the appeal, [whispers]too many scanias[/whispers]

So it was this time again, last year we were terrible at taking photos but this year I did take a few. I’ll go through and start adding captions to some once they are safely uploaded. For now, enjoy!

Massive crane. Harry convinced the owner to ‘hide’ our landrover tow truck prop up there.

Elk enjoyed driving the SK heavy. It ran really well, not even struggling with the laden tipper.

Big Ford disgraced herself by burning out the motor and servo in one hit Saturday morning. Was all up and running again by the afternoon thanks to the on site vendors.

The Atkinson 8-legger and the Scammell showman’s generator truck are built by the same chap, very good eye for detail and always really happy to talk about the builds. Lovely guy. Local to me too.

I remember seeing rigs like that (Highwayman ?) back in the mid sixties at the Links Market in Kirkcaldy, my first time being up close to big Scammell's. They certainly have a presence, made a big impression on a 15/16 year old
