Head gasket skimming advice

Morning all. After much deliberation, we've decided to go ahead and investigate the blown head gasket on our '95 Vauxhall Midi camper-to-be (blew up on maiden voyage). Yes, it's old and parts are hard to get, and yes we won't get our money back - but can anyone recommend somewhere not stupidly far from Bristol that would be willing/able to do the initial inspection of the engine that tells us whether it's salvageable or knackered beyond saving? The quotes we've had have been quite varied, and no-one so far has been that interested. Anyone know of a place that might actually like the idea of taking on an old Midi?

if the engine is already in bits, Bristol Auto Care are very knowledgeable and a proper old school workshop. But he's usually not in a situation to take in vehicles and his engine turnaround is long as he is always busy.
