EDITED - thanks for the tip…..
Hi all - I’ve loved my 996, proper bucket list stuff, but I’m not a forever car person, and I fancy a convertible…..
£15k
I’ll add some recent photos when I work out how soon, or will email.

My notes
I have a 1999 Porsche 911 (996) C2 coupe. It’s the popular one, the purist’s choice! Not a
cabrio or auto or 4wd, it has the 3.4 and manual box, the cable throttle, and the Limited Slip
Diff with Traction Control as an option, classic Arctic Silver with Black Leather, a very classic
spec.
The car was clearly well looked after by the previous owner (see RR posts) and I
bought it in 2020. Key previous work done includes new alternator in 2018 and
IMS/RMS/Clutch/AOS/Coffin Arms all done in 2019, and recent engine mounts. It has a
Pioneer stereo with Bluetooth and microphone, but the original Porsche Becker stereo is
clean and boxed with the car.
Work done in my 2.5yrs and 7k miles includes discs and pads & Bridgestone tyres, stainless
exhaust (including drilling out the widely hated exhaust bolts and replacing with studs and
copper nuts, much easier for any future maintenance), new starter motor and cable (known
electrical issue, now fixed), later 997 gear linkage (great way to improve shift quality and
shorten the throw a little), and changed gearbox oil and PAS fluid.
Good service history file (not full Porsche, mix of personal and good local garage) the
lightest 17” wheels Porsche made for 996s (17x7 & 17x9), and comes with a file of invoices
and a few spares (air filter, coffin arms, oil & filter etc). Now at 120k miles, lovely runner,
feels quick, sounds great etc. Reg is visible on photos so you can check MOT history. It’ll be
serviced and have the MOT advisory on brake line done shortly.
As you can see in the photos it’s in very good condition but not perfect, there’s a few small
scabs or scuffs on the wheels, there’s a tiny dimple in the engine cover (hard to spot, right in
the middle), a little chip on a door handle, a little gravel rash low on front bumper, the usual
24yr old 120k mile car imperfections, but it looks pretty good to me!
I chose the 911 because it had 4 seats and was quite practical as a daily, and I’ve loved it,
but I want a little convertible now, so am looking for a Boxster or Z4 (2.5/2.7/3.0/3.2, Manual box
of either one, <£10k, open to suggestion if you have one and want to trade up!).
Option codes
220 – Limited Slip Diff / 222 & 224 – Traction Control / 424 – CD Compartment / 437 & 438 –
8way Electric seats / 538 – Driver memory seat / 650 – Sunroof / 695 – Becker CDR22 CD
