	Hello, My alternator bearings have gradually been getting worse and now making a lot of noise. I have taken the alternator Bearings out and ordered the identical bearing which was only a single shield "z" (6202z) but have been sent "zz" (6202zz) instead. Does any one know if it's ok to use the zz bearing. Thank you

	So, double shielded? Yes, that’s fine. It exceeded the original design spec whilst being the correct size.

	A single shielded z bearing has an open unshielded side, usually because there is a lubrication source on that side. A double shielded zz or 2z bearing is a closed design, retaining it's own lubricant. Many suppliers don't stock or sell the single z versions anymore but just tell the customer to buy the zz version and pop one of the seals out if needed.
