Hi all,
Just a quick question about the track time in relation to noise limit, after catastrophically failing the noise test at goodwood (118db) I was wandering if mallory run a similar noise test limit or not?
I did run my alfa last year at mallory with out any issues with noise and haven't changed the car since but thought I'd check before I apply!

It's a tricky one, because they're often inexpertly and inconsistently applied. Had a lovely argument with one of the Marshals at Prescott one time over the zorst on my 405 Mi16 and he only - grudgingly- relented when I googled the instructions for the unit he was using and showed him the bloody page.

They definitely noise tested us on the Saturday for Quick60, maybe they never bothered on the Sunday? Seems a little strange if they didn't.
The other thing that was strange is the limit was 105 when Mallory is usually 103.

Which is why I asked incase it had changed! Pretty sure alot of the cars on the quick 60 were loader then me tbfπ

Yes there will be noise testing at Mallory (we'd like to avoid testing all cars because organisation wise it's a pain and just do a check on anything noisy but it's Mallory that set the rules) You didn't change anything in the exhaust system at all between Mallory and Goodwood? At Mallory RRG22 your application said "had a cat back wizard exhaust" For Goodwood RRW23 your application said "wizard stainless steel exhaust with equal length cybox downpipes" I'm willing to stick a tenner bet that the cats fell out at the same time

The other thing that was strange is the limit was 105 when Mallory is usually 103. We did noise test all the Q60 cars it was a requirement - having done that on Sat for the Sunday We got agreement to only noise test cars that were tripping the meters a couple of cars did trip the odd meter but it was on their last runs so pointless to test I'm hoping we get the same agreement this time because noise testing is a pain to organise in the pit area and in the main not needed

When you drove into the paddock area at Goodwood this year I thought ouch you are going to be very lucky to get that thro the noise test - I wasn't surprised when it did fail - I did try to get an exception to run it for a run and see if it tripped the circuit meters but GW were having none of that (below 110 would have been a suck it and see how it was on track - 118 is a crazy level of noise and that got a "no bloody way is that going on track")

Yeahhhhh tbh when I took it round goodwood track weekender 2021 think it registered 106db before I fitted the downpipes but obvs when I took it round it had a hole in the downpipes so the reading at the exhaust tip probably wouldn't have been correct, but I'm surprised it didn't trip any of the noise meters round the track seeing as it had a gaping hole in the downpipesπ Also surprised it didn't trip any noise meters round mallory last year if it is 118db! But then again I'm sure some of the quick 60 cars are loader!

I can confirm it is the same exhaust setup as he had on the car when he went around Mallory park last year and it still has the cat. I had to follow him home and thought something had broken on my car before realising it was the drone of the snapped downpipe on his Alfa in front π
When he leaves work you can hear it going for about three streets and I know when he is near my house as I hear it about 15 seconds before he arrives.

Not sure you are helping his case It may have been a car that trip the noise meters last year but only stood out on the last run. I'd like to avoid blanket noise testing the Sunday track participants as we did last time (on the grounds that we successfully did that in 2022 without too many issues) - I don't think accepting an entry from a very noisy car would help my case at all

I have suggested baffle inserts for the exhaust
