Hello! I recently bought myself a mostly rebuilt Ford Model Y. I've been intending to finish off some jobs that haven't yet been completed. One of them is wiring the horn. My car has been upgraded to 12volt, so the existing horn has been wired into fuses connected to the battery. However, the remaining wire is coiled up under the engine compartment. I haven't yet received an owners manual, and while I'm waiting for that, I'm a bit lost. Does anyone know where the horn button's wire connection is (i.e. where I would connect the remaining wire to)? I thought it would be at the end of the steering column, but I could not find it.

I used to have a 37 Model Y, but I cannot for the life of me remember how the horn was connected. I seem to recall a hollow steering column, but I’m not convinced that I’ve misremembered as I know for sure that my P4 Rover worked that way.
Any chance of a picture of the horn push, the back of the steering wheel where it meets the column, and one of the bottom of the steering box.
Chances are, the horn would have been wired with a permanent live supply to one terminal, and the other grounded via the horn button.

Looks like the wire from the horn that's coiled up on yours probably runs down the outside of the column and would then join at the bottom to wires that run up the inside of the column to the button in the middle of the steering wheel. Considering the car has been converted to 12v, maybe it's a job they just didn't get around to finishing so there isn't any wires to connect to because of that?

If it goes up the middle of the column, it might not have been put back because it’s such a difficult job if you don’t know the trick to doing it. You need a really long bit of stiff wire like coat hanger wire or maybe some thick solid core from mains wire that you can push all the way through. Hook one end round the horn wire and feed it up (or down) the column, then pull it all the way through.

These responses are really helpful and have confirmed my suspicions, thank you.
My only issue is I cannot see an entry point for any wires at the base of the steering column, or along it.
