My Dad always went against the tide in car choices - This was my absolute favorite - I think it was to do with the way he cared for it, and did nearly 300k in it. In my little mind it was a part of him - and it was the most gorgeous deep and bright red you had ever seen. The seats were covered in this really intricate weaves in a zigzag pattern, and had square plastic buttons with a square indent on the center. The chrome was mirror finish. The radio aerial was a six feet monster making it look like a huge toy car. It is the only car he owned which never broke down. Would love to see one again - Is there one still in the UK?

My dad bought one of those second hand in 1980 to replace a ten year old Isuzu Bellett. Was in that almost but not quite purple colour widely referred to as nipple pink. It had an 18R 2 litre engine with a four speed manual gearbox. Was a very good car, much better than the 1.6 Mk5 Cortina wagon that replaced it.

There are definitely some left, but as with most Japanese stuff of that era probably no more than a handful. There is definitely a minimum of 2, as a guy I know in Bradford has a saloon and a estate.

My grandfather had the facelifted variant for almost 20 years. Tough & durable if unlikely to excite by other means. Fair bit of torque but there was no point looking for more power through revs.

This mid 70’s corona coupe showed up in my feed in the US. With a bonus N600 It is so rotten they shrink wrapped the tail end to move it from shop to shop. So rotten.

"Corona" Mark II are beautiful, though not really Coronas. Only 6 cyl versions sold here to ensure no confusion despite badging.
