Good result The fuse really should have protected the pcb, I wonder if the fuse has gone and someone has tried a bigger fuse to get it working ? Nope, original fuse is in the block, supply for the seat module. Phil

Went through the connections on the tail lights. The tag lights were grody, so I figured I'd pull the lenses off and clean them. Naturally that turned into completely rebuilding shattered lights, where the heat from the bulbs cooked the plastic. Ordered some LED bulbs. Failed light warning be damned. Phil

Are those filament LED's ? I like the light from that type, they tend to have a longer life than standard LED's

|
Black is not a colour ! .... Its the absence of colour

I would hazard a guess this has something to do with the parking lights not working. Phil

Front marker light had burned out. Bought some replacement bulbs. Service manual says "press firmly on the front, the rear will pop out, press the tang in and remove the assembly. Then twist the bulb holder 1/4 turn counterclockwise to remove the bulb. It did not say doing this will cause the fixture to explode. Super glue. Still fragile but in one piece. Carefully reassembled and now it works. Phil

The side repeater on the driver's side wasn't working. So, I tore into the wiring after testing the bulb good. The janky wire they used had corroded to powder. These are a retrofit, originally the US market cars had blanking plugs in the holes. Pulled it apart and rewired it. Better. If it's fitted, it should work. Phil

Everything works now. Few more switches inside to redo the illumination in, but that's the exterior done. The headlight aim needs addressing, too. Phil

Are you enjoying working on the Jag more than your older vehicles? Or just … different?

Oooh. A spare part arrived. That’s a chunky part…. Will you be investigating the state of the timing chains and guides before fitting it?

Scrub scrub. Cleaned it up, ready for timing chain. Wrapped up in tarp now, rain forecast for the foreseeable future. Phil

What kind of info were you able to get on that engine before pulling the Buy trigger? Compression and leak down? Maybe that’s not realistic.

All the new parts arrived in. I had a go at the crank pulley bolt, but it didn't want to budge.
I think I need to find my windy gun and see if my little compressor has enough balls to run it.
