I have my self a conundrum.
I have myself a 2005 Toyota RAV4
It was my mum's car and she passed in January and I have been trying to think of what to do about the car since then.
It was sort of left to my kid who is now 17, but they have given up on learning to drive (!) until possibly after Uni. "I'd rather spend my time getting an education and my money travelling". Fine. Kids ain't into cars and I have done my best to put anyone off them with the chod I have had.
TBH the RAV4 was not a new driver car anyway. Its a 2 litre auto and that means its like group 14 insurance and likr £400 a year in road tax. Its actually more than my XJ40 Daimler Sovereign on both insurance and tax!
But it was my mum's car and I feel a bit attached to it. Not that its "my kind of car"
it strikes me it fits into a real nowhere zone though.
Its just about to turn 20 years old. Its a 3 door SUV with a petrol engine and automatic box. Its economically stupid. Did I mention it only does like 24mpg and thats on a good day?
But its mint. It has 32000 miles on it, original owner, until 2019 it was full main dealer service history. I told ma she was wasting money having a £400+ Toyota service on a car doing 1000 miles a year or less. So it was independant service after that. I think I even have the paperwork for it all somewhere.
I'm tempted jut to keep it until they become some kind of cult sought after thing, which is bound to happen as soon as I sell it...
Its bizarre how unmarked the thing is. Not even scratched round the ignition. And other than the AC "just needs a re-gas" everything works like it was new too.
With the economics of these things being so bad I cant imagine how there are still loads of these about but I still keep seeing them. Folks must like them.
