I'm thinking of treating the Escort and maybe the Capri to new number plates. Who are making the best replica dealership number plates at the moment? I've come across this company on facebook www.facebook.com/retroplates who seem good? If I could get a dealer sticker and taxdisc holder I'd be happy too. Mines an odd one though as I've got no evidence of a dealer sticker and the dealer has long gone. See my post here Southern Cross Garages (Market Deeping)I remember a company called DMB used to do plates but now seem to only do stickers? For the Capri I'd use Tippers for the plastic letter type so thats easy. So whos using who for their number plates?

I've had a couple sets done by retro plates on facebook/Instagram now, have been very happy with them They did the pre 2001 style font plates on my old Legend Just remembered they also did a plate for my bike, neither needed any dealer bits adding but I was certainly happy with the quality so I would use them again

That Honda's plates look RIGHT
I hate that literally everyone seems to pitch nice original reflective plates to fit black ones. Ugh, But thats just me I guess.

I'm a bit of a nerd in that for me any 90s car has got to have that subtly larger pre 2001 Charles Wright font to look "right"
When I got it, it had a correct pre 2001 font plate on the rear but a later Charles Wright font on the front and the slight difference bugged me 😅

+1 for Retro Plates. I used them for getting original dealer plates for my SD1. They look spot on. Correct font, supplying dealer logos etc. No complaints at all.

Retroplates are good. I wouldn't really look any further unless you want more. Their quality is good, and they have a decent turnaround. Some vendors on eBay claim to do pre-2001 (aka Charles Wright (CW), compared to the post 2001 New Charles Wright (NCW) but they are not quite right these days. The last set I had for my S124 were CW, but in an NCW size. To make matters worse, like a few plates I've had off ebay of late, they deteriorated over the months quite quickly. The lettering started turning grey. Great for if you want to avoid an ANPR, a little bad if you fancy being pulled over. Note the D on that is in the CW font, with no end bits. The other place to try for dealer plates is Pukar Designs. They have alot of old plates. They are pricier, but if you want a particular dealer for your car, they'll have that in stock. DMB used to do plates, but I think they got sick of the heat they were getting if you catch my drift. That Honda's plates look RIGHT I hate that literally everyone seems to pitch nice original reflective plates to fit black ones. Ugh, But thats just me I guess. I'm a bit of a nerd in that for me any 90s car has got to have that subtly larger pre 2001 Charles Wright font to look "right" When I got it, it had a correct pre 2001 font plate on the rear but a later Charles Wright font on the front and the slight difference bugged me 😅 No, there are a few of us. For me, it's about the period look for the car, but not necessarily the age, in addition to dealer scribbles etc. I fully agree that 90s cars need pre 2001 font plates. It's easy to see why plate differences annoy you to be fair. It can transform the look of a car, and make it look classier IMHO. Sure, the Euro plates on my W124 would have been handy when I went to Europe, but what's the fun in that? The Carina, a few of us didn't know what plates to put on. We put on NCW reflective plates, the new owner put on black and silvers. To me, the reflectives worked for the era of car, but it's horses for courses The Stag I went with the riveted plates, which seemed period correct. Were these the original 3, 4 or 5D plates? Who knows? The Dolly also looked right with them. The Merc, I broke with tradition. That in theory should have seen me fit CW plates, similar to what was on the Stag. I broke with tradition and fitted black and silvers. In my defence, my W108 was a very late car being a '72, with the model first coming out in 1965. img.retro-rides.org/i/v/chasr/3e7cdb0cd072.jpg

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll probably drop Retro Plates a message tomorrow or Tuesday. I'll check out Pukar Designs too ChasR and nice one for the pics of your old plates! These are the plates I want to replicate. They seem slightly bigger than normal, I've not mesured the ones on the Capri but offering them up to XAA 60V they are a bit bigger. I would love a dealer sticker but I'm not sure if Southern Cross Garages did any. Still trying to find more info on this garage. I'd like some of the plastic letter 70s plates that tippers do for this although I'm not sure where it was originally sold. I just messaged the owner of the garage thats on the current plate ( Williams, of Great Yarmouth) and apparently it was the current managers car originally ... How crazy is that!? Although thats all I know, waiting to hear "Oh year I wrapped that around a pole and scrapped it".
