Tis a nice little car, that. I remember when Si Tricket (Imp Club IT/Website Bod) ran that car everyday. Some good bits on it too, but the 55 profile tyres are *all* wrong... 60 profile minimum on an Imp due to the suspension set up is needed. I really must get my butt into gear about selling the mad big-arched Stiletto soon... Save me the Ebay listing, anyone fancy this (below) minus the big wheels and engine for £400? I can supply a running engine for an extra £100 and a set of 13in Weller rims (curse word tyres) for another £75. Needs a bit of welding on the floor (good sills) but does have loads of new parts, plus a front-mounted radiator and Monte Carlo (lowered/uprated) springs. Will need trailering from its resting place in Essex. Fire me a personal message if you are interested, otherwise it ends up on Ebay (with some up to date pics). Cheers Tim

GJM have you joined the Imp club yet? There maybe a club area centre near you that has people who may help you.

not joined up yet but I'm on the forums there as GJM, been on for a few months. On the yahoo group aswel but havent posted there yet. Think there is an area centre near me, they have their own yahoo group and meet at the Merlin pub in Alderly Edge first wednesday of every month. Not been down to see them yet but am going to as soon as I pass my test ;D Have a look at a few of their Imps and get a real feel for what they are like to live with. Asking questions on forums and chat rooms is one thing but actualy seeing and sitting in one and seeing what they have first hand is a compleatly different thing. I want to learn about mechanics and restorations through my first classic car, suppose sticking a motor in a Stiletto will be a good start lol, hmmm...

Imp engines go in fairly easily. You don't need an engine hoist just slide it in on a trolley jack. Have you got a Haynes manual?

Fitting an Imp engine is a doddle. Even for a first timer... plus there are loads of bods in Cheshire that are top chaps (and chapesses) who would no doubt help if you were stuck.
To actually put the engine in is: slide engine into gearbox on trolley jack, five nuts around the bellhousing, bolt back panel into place, bolt the front/rear (depending on point of view) engine mount into place, release the trolley jack. Then bolt on the carb and exhaust (9 or 10 nuts), bolt on the water pump (three bolts - water pump supplied with car), connect up five wires (alternator, oil pressure switch, temp gauge sender unit & dizzy switch wire), plug the HT King lead into the coil, connect the fuel supply to the fuel pump, bung on all the cooling hoses & bolt in the starter motor. Connect the battery back up - and VROOM!
If you were serious about it, I could luz the engine into the car and get it running for you. But remember it will need some welding underneath & some tyres on the Wellers - plus any other little bits the MOT man wants.
Giz a shout if you are interested. Cheers Tim

don't know what I'm doing with my Stiletto really. Its going to need a new floor and its going bubbly under the vinyl roof. May get the work done or pass it on to someone else.

It needs plates on all four corners of the floorpan (usual corner rot) but it (AFAIK) isn't terminal.
No idea what else it will need for an MOT to be honest.
