Retro Cars Mag and the Website

Just had a quick nip on the Rcs (sorry note the mistake) site and ahh my god, I mean i am a big Believer in web pages and what they can offer you if used effectivly, I reckon RR should employ someone to update this site every so often cus it needs it. Not really Ranting but come on guys your Mag is so bloody good make you website the same and it can speak a thsound words ;D

Yeah. Can't see much wrong with it to me....

Magazine websites by their very nature can't be vast, sprawling and full of content, otherwise that magazine is effectively negating it's own existence.....

All it needs have is "teasers" for the magazine plus subs and availabilty....It's up to us then to get our asses down Smiths to actually buy it!

Whenever I come to the UK I try to get that magazine, and I can NEVER find it. its never in any of the airports, never in WH smiths, I can simply never find the f***ing thing. I don't want to subscribe but i'd buy it if it was ever on the b*stard shelf!!!!

Unless one were to offer an online subscription with a web based version of the magazine and added content. Such as photos that there wasn't space for in the magazines and videos etc.

You'd have to have a pretty good business plan put together in order to make it work though..... I can see how it can work for computers and other techy stuff like that, but car magazines - well time will tell.

Besides, they need to keep going in paper form - else what would you have to read while sitting on the "throne"...

good point, I mean cus they took Vid footage of the rcs show, i think if the mag gets bigger which it will they may do that cus even Chav mags like MAX power (curse word) do this kind of thing teasers and vids from shows

to be honest i don't think they will mind as your not going to scan in thier images are you, just feature cars that members have said and stuff

Newsletter is still on its Christmas holidays whilst I do some site updates and get a couple of other projects finished,.. it WILL return,.. hoepfully before the end of the month as well

Ahh well thats quite right,.. but Magazines are still a bit afraid of Web based stuff. For good reason, if a website is featuring things that you want to read about for free/less than a magazine, why would you buy a magazine about the same subject.

A lot of people have stopped reading newspapers because they can get all their news online, and faster.

The main downside with web-mags (as far as I'm concerned) is that you have to sit infront of a computer to read them - and scrolling/clicking around is a pain even if you're on broadband. So instead of slyly reading Retro Cars whilst sat next to my other half as she watches Eastenders, I have to sit down the other end of the room "on the bloody web again", which is antisocial apparently

It's just not the same when it's not on paper.

However, having said that, I think it could be made to work, just not by trying to recreate a print mag directly on line

Agreed, it also gives you the oportunity to ignore the wife for a while as you're "reading"

Not only that, but I read mine on the train on theway to and from work - doing that on a laptop would be a right pain in the ass.

One good idea try using the Features section as members features to start with, get everyone to write down the spec and take some good images and plonk em in as they say
