hi. i'm shocked at how quick response is, you all seem friendly. i will obviously watch this forum regularly. now all i need is a knowledgeable doris fan to tell me what engine fits with what mods. it keeps going through my mind a+ 1275 block, metro turbo top end and turbo, type 9 gearbox, marina axle. as you can see i have the basic idea i just don't know if this is easy, cheap or difficult, expensive. cheers i only bought car 1 month ago cos it was cheap with full mot.

Metro Turbo unit would be simple to fit into your car mate marina axle would not be an issue either you have loads of room to play with under that motor

If you're gonna go through the hassel of changing the engine, you might as well do something beneficial - I don't think a blown 1275 would be TBH.
Metty Turbo's only what......85-90 bhp + putting it through the rear axle you'll lose between 8 - 10 percent of the power + the extra weight of the Moggy..........
If you wanted to keep it in the family, what about the 1750 from the Maxi? - you'll probably be able to get a Supercharger to fit as well.
Didn't someone in RR mag put a Fiat Twin Cam in the front of a Moggy a while back?

I think a Metro turbo is not a bad idea. Youve gotta dismantle the engine though and fit a Marina carnkshaft if you want a rwd metro turbo engine as the metro crank does not accept the conventional marina flywheel/clutch, etc.
all iron though, & carb+turbo = Yuk if you ask me.
Get a cheap rover 214 multipoint and rob its engine. lovely.

Hi there MOGGY, good to see another Issigonis masterpiece on here.
Engine wise why not try a M16 or T16 conversion 150/200bhp straight from the box. PPC did an article on this conversion in to an MGB a couple of months ago, it looked neat.

Welcome to the board! Good to see another BMC fan here - my first car was a '64 Minor Van Regarding engine transplants, make sure you pay very special attention to the weight of the new unit. A heavy lump like a 'B' Series will mess up the Minor's famously sweet handling & steering. The Rover K series or Fiat twin cam are the best developed (but the K conversion parts aren't cheap) and are light engines. A 1275 turbo will be bolt in (but be prepared to break the standard halfshafts and make sure you use a 1275 Ital /Marina / Spridget engine & 'box as the basis - you'll need the block & crank amongst other bits, and the Minor's 'box won't take the extra power for long. Loads of brake & suspension goodies available - join the Morris Minor OC - they include a modified / customised register, and their forum is also probobly a good place to ask for advice.
