this is a 2 litre 16 valve mini built using the engine and gearbox from a 1988 Astra GTE.
the engine sits in an AMT frame especially designed to house the unit.
the engine is running on twin weber 45 carbs and is otherwise standard apart from ARP rod bolts to protect it in high revs.
the car has a six point rollcentre FIA spec roll cage with fixed diagonal together with Ford Recaro seats.
the bakes are uprated to Metro vented four pots.
the entire suspension is adjustable front and back. top and bottom suspension arms are rose jointed, as are the tie bars.
there are AVO coilovers fitted to the front adjustable in height and stiffness.
the rear suspension is adjustable for height, camber and caster as well as stiffness.
the astra radiator, manifold and alternator are retained making servicing straight forward.
this is accommodated in the extended flip front. this is a fibreglass item from ABS which together with the bonnet maintain the appearance of roundnose mini.
This car is fast. and can be quite vicious. The engine produces 180hp and is geared for acceleration. Similar spec'ed cars reach 60 in under 6 seconds (wheelspin permitting) and it has a top speed of approx 136.
To get an MOT the car needs front balljoints replacing (provided with car). Exhaust manifold welding where a previous modification was done to clear the frame. There is also a missing indicator, it was pillaged for my mum's mini, but a new one comes with the car.
