Robbing Bastards!
My G/f, 26, has her Corrado 16v insured with Sureterm for about £280 as it's a 'Future Classic' ;D (6k a year limited miles)
and the bus (heavily Modified) costs her £350 I think....

Guys, regarding HIC - just prey you don't ever have to claim! Their quotes are usually very good (and they are one of a few who insure cages which means i sadly also need to consider them) but i am good friends with 2 people who have had to claim with HIC, and i know of others, and each time they have been treated like wibblepoo and HIC have simply messed them around. Maybe they have something about volkswagen owners lol ;D

The value of the car doesn't make a great deal of difference to the cost of insurance - at the end of the day the Scirroco is basically a MK1 Golf GTI underneath, a MK1 Golf in similar condition would probably fetch over £1000 - the £241 wouldn't sound so bad then Exactly... £241 isn't a bad price I don't think really... it just stacks up that way against what you paid for the car.

You lot are making me very jealous with all these quotes under £500. If I can get a quote that's less than £600 this year, than I shall be very happy!! Last year, when I rang up for quotes, they all wanted well over £1000 with me as policyholder, on the tank, insured for £3000 / £2500 (can't remember which). I'm 24, I live in SW London, the car is modified (1.8 to 2.0 - minimal power increase, just torque, & bigger exhaust, nothing else) and is parked out in the street. No NCB (always been named driver, not policy holder), but completely clean licence (passed in June '99), and I've made no claims, nor have I had any accidents. At the moment, I'm still a named driver (but declared as principle user of the vehicle - it's all legit), and that costs me £750 / 800. I have been insured with the same company (NU) as a named driver since I was 19, but they wanted an extra £500 to make me the policyholder last year, even though they know full well that I haven't made any claims as I'm already insured with them However, the Sprite is insured on a classic car policy with AON, for the grand sum of £121, value £3500, unlimited mileage (due to its age , garaged outside London. ;D

Is that garaged, or out in the street? The lack of a garage or driveway seems to double my insurance

I pay over £700 Fully Comp on the Skoda... plus the £100 shortfall insurance which means even if my main insurance company squirms out of paying me a decent sum for the car, I get full invoice value for it in the event of a total loss. It takes the curse word that you have to have two insurance policies to avoid getting shat on really! Oh, I'm 26 with full NCB (just) and It's protected now.

Mr Amazon Sprite - the company who have insured my golf said they take into account the time you have been a named driver and give a sizeable discount for it. Let me know if you want me to dig out their number, i cant remember who they are off the top of my head. I knew there was someone out there, but couldnt find them the year before when i was purposely looking for them!

try lifesure - they are very good www.lifesure.co.uk/motor.phpthey insured my VR4 for £580 - thats less than half of what other companies quoted - that is the ones that would actually insure it...... see if they will insure it as a limited mileage classic?

Parked on my drive,.. which they don't really do reductions for,.. basically its garaged or not garaged as far as they are concerned. Oh - Lancaster treat them as not being that different (ie just £50) for their classic policies, on their 'quick quote' on their website. IIRC, they don't require it to be a second car either. Wanted only £450 for the Sprite if kept in London (presumably as only car, but had to be parked off the road), which isn't bad for a sportscar with no door locks, and which would be incredibly easy to steal. Maybe it's a London thing, as it would avoid the obligatory parking knocks Mr Amazon Sprite - the company who have insured my golf said they take into account the time you have been a named driver and give a sizeable discount for it. Let me know if you want me to dig out their number, i cant remember who they are off the top of my head. I knew there was someone out there, but couldnt find them the year before when i was purposely looking for them! If you could find their details, that would be much appreciated!! Is your Golf standard, or modified? The upgraded engine causes me no end of problms with insurers.

I'm with Churchill for the skud, £166.95 with protected NCB.... best deal I could find. The Sceptre's with Footman James, £130, unlimited mileage, £500 agreed value and it was the same garaged as when it was on the drive......
Might be worth giving Tesco a try, they were the cheapest for the OH on the Astra, and I hear the don't mind modifications......

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.
