Thought you'd like to see my (and DerbyDans's) mate Garf's turbo'd Bug otherwise known as Thunderbug. It does 14 sec 1/4 miles and although road legal, is almost impossible to drive normally apparently. Sorry about the poor quality but they wre taken on my Camera Phone. Enjoy.

that's bloody mental.... always fancied a turbo'd aircooled dub, just cos you still don't see many around - anyone with the money to do it just goes scooby power.

Thought you'd like to see my (and DerbyDans's) mate Garf's turbo'd Bug otherwise known as Thunderbug. It does 14 sec 1/4 miles and although road legal, is almost impossible to drive normally apparently. Well, so far Garf has managed one 14sec quarter - a 14.91 when he raced me a couple of weekends ago, I got a 15.30 ;D He was well chuffed as he's been sniffing at the 14s for a while. The car has been built on a strict minimal budget, the engine is based around what is basically a stock 1600 engine (abeit with big valve heads) Being an ex-employee of Turbo Technics also has its perks (mainly in the form of gained knowledge I don't think Garf would mind if I said that although his car looks pretty pukka in the pictures - its no show queen and has a certain 'ratty air' to it Heres a slightly clearer picture - although its not wearing the ace Wolfrace slot mags it now wears...

NICE! Turbo'd beetles rule! Though everyone seems to be going that way now. I'm hoping mine will be finished this summer, just a shame the turbo itself is going to be hidden

I'm hoping mine will be finished this summer, just a shame the turbo itself is going to be hidden Ooooh that looks like a rather Beefy turbo ;D ;D ;D I'd love to see some pictures of the rest of your car - I take it thats a sneaky front view on your avatar? When will we be seeing it on the dragstrip? Garf's been playing around with his turbo'd beetles for a few few years now, and like you he is slightly peeved that now it seems everyone else is doing the same. I guess theres two reasons for the turbo's rise in popularity - They are a cheap method for increasing power for those on a budget and are the answer for gaining more power once you've exhausted all the avenues building a big N/A motor.

Thats over a year old now, which i took when the wheels arrived. It goes to Chris Isaacs at the end of this month so i should be able to get some then. Turbos arent so cheap when you buy everything new tho! ;D hoping to have it finished at some point this year. It will prob only really see the odd RWYB use though. I def want to take it on a track. And then just drive it ... and scare myself silly! ;D
