i could alredy drive by the time i was 17 so it didnt take long to pass my test. or take very long to become an idiot. or take very long to get done for wreckless driving. that was the 2nd biggest mistake of my life (i wont go into the 1st) my advice for new drivers-don't be a dick.there speaks the voice of experience ;D

Another 17-year-old from round here lol, try DG Motor Services for the welding (cheap plug) my instructor is pretty good however i've just recently found out he also one of the most expensive. Have a word with mates etc tha are learning/driving i'm sure someone will know of a decent instructor.

i don't think I'm going to go in a ditch but i deffo cant wait to get on the road and go for a good drive round.i cnat wait till i can just jump in the motor and for a drive.id really love to have passed before the retro rides show in june so i can have a go up the strip at the pod but i highly doubt i will have but i can only keep my fingers crossed. i hate haing a car in the garage but not being able to use it! I'm going america at the end of march but after that I'm really gunna try my hardest on the car and on the driving. and hopefully while I'm out there i can get me hands on some cool styling bits for the mini!

Congatulations, i was 17, 2 years ago next week Once you pass you will have a strange sense that you and your car are invincible which won't go away until you do something silly, just remember that your not and you will be fine ;D

Happy birthday dude Geez, its been a long while since I was 17, but I can still remember how elated I felt that day when I passed my test. I managed to pass after ten lessons, though back in the day before theory tests & stuff - It must be much tougher now Theres some shocking statistic about how likely you are going to have an accident within the first year of driving - I too can admit to driving like a complete in the first few years of driving - it was only when I nearly put my old BM backwards through a hedge that I properly calmed down As for local welders, I can only really recommend DG Motors too - they can be a touch pricey, but they'd do a decent job. Do you know anything about that garage on the A4500, halfway between Wilby and the Earls Barton cross roads, that seems to have an increasing number of old Vdubs outside? If they are restorers, then maybe they might be able to help - I saw a lovely 23 window split samba in there the other day

Happy birthday mate! I've got fond memories of sliding about waste ground in any motor I could get my hands on wishing I could go on the road for real myself! Unfortunately the Imp that started my obsession when I was about 13 never made it onto the road with me, but ah well, I had another knackered late Imp saloon by that time! ;D ;D
