Hi Everybody. I just read my first Retro Ride mag. How have I missed it all these years? Great stuff, right along the lines of what me and my buddies like to do. Thought i'd check out the forum as well and say hi... A little about myself. I live in Canada on the West Coast, have a familly, own a business. Our S2 Elan is fully restored, with a 1700 tall block and Alfa 5speed tranny. ( the brightest yellow you ever saw! ) Lot's of fun for sure. Our Cortina ( 63 mk1 pre airflow..) is a work in progress ( I was driving it, but the BDA let go, and bits for this lump are rare as hen's teeth, or more expensive than missle parts..). It should be back on the road by really early spring. The car had only 34,000 miles on it from new when I got it. It now sports adjustable front struts, gas shocks all around ( from a Toyata and Mazda part number, since there isn't much Cortina stuff to be had around here..), rear swaybar, vented front discs, all rebushed of course, and Ronal RS alloys ( from a European Capri, they really suit the car. ). The tranny is a close ratio Ford unit. The steering box is a GT unit. We'll Paint next year maybe, but it looks ok for now. Anyway, that's it for me..Thanks Mark

Absolutely. There were more sold in the US of course, but the MK1 through MK3 were sold in Canada ( not in great numbers mind you.
The Vauxhal Viva GT's were sold here as well, sometimes rebaged as Epic GT's. ( had a couple of those as well )

Hi Lotus & welcome to the forum Sounds like you have a couple of cool, suitably retro rides - both types are personal favourites of mine, sounds like your Cortina has all the wish-list bits on it (BDA! ) Plus I spot that you are a fellow Integra owner - A modern car I feel Colin Chapman would have approved of, despite being FWD. P.S; As far as I know this Retro-Rides Forum/website has no connection with the Retro Cars magazine in which this forum was featured - though most of us I'm sure are avid readers of the mag too

Sorry about the photo's. Here is the link to my photo album. Oops, didn't work, looks like it's copy and paste to get there.. www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291842887The password is brittany for viewing. The Integra is really our main grocery getter. I agree that Chapman would approve of the car, especially since some folks use the motor to power the Elise over here. There is nothing like spending the day farting around with some old dirty english car that just will not co-operate, then releasing your tension at 9000 rpm on the highway! Hah hah..

OMG... I actually found a group who like my Cortina!!.. Around these parts Cortina lovers are a bit like closet fags.. You have to dig deep to find out how they really feel ( my business partner thinks it's the ugliest car he gas ever seen, but he hasn't seen my buddies 105E yet..)
Of the two of them I prefere the Cortina. Not as fast, but feels more robust, and gets plenty of nods tearing around town. At car shows people walk past to Elan with barely a look ( maybe because it looks a bit like an old Fiat 850..) but the Corty gets really noticed.
Everybody either had one, or their mom had one, or they raced one, or they rolled one, or they hate them, or they love them..
Mostly they are just surprised that it's a Ford...
Thanks for posting some pics..
