Everyone seems to keep me updated about their projects, and I realised I never post anything about mine! So 5 minutes ago out I went and took random digi's of the rebel! In the sorry state its in at the moment. Sulking after loosing it's oil pressure before it's outing to Brands in December.
I still love the look of it, has a proper attitude, if it could, it would gob in your face then chin you! The wheels are only 6j wide in the pic, they should be 7.5j, but they are off for refurbishment.
The engine on the frame is a 1275 mg lump, thats going to be done by pete vickers (the bits we can't do), machining etc. To either 1293/1380, depending on the class, SCCR box, 649, race head, 45 weber, may be even splits. With miglia touches thrown in, should be a right animal again. I was only 16 when I used it for the first time, strong memory, put the living curse word up me.
Retro vinyl!
First car, raced it in Autograss at the age of 13, and picked up newcomer of the year (show off) This is now laid up on a farm near by, I've got to do something with it soon.
Where the paint scheme came from...The car pctured below was my old mans, he campaigned in the free formula 850 class, basically, a bloke called Geoff Poulter, who owned the Rebel was my Dads competition! Luckily he kept all his old race results etc, he beat 'Geoff Poulter' (who used to compete in the Rebel) every time!
He then sold the yellow one to 'the King of Lydden', Bill Richards, who wrote it off on it's first meeting at Brands IIRC! Much to my disappointment, I only found out a couple of years back. As I wanted to try and track it down.
Then the Reb came up on a message board in 2002, it was like Britains Most Wanted, an exporter even wanted it to ship to the USA. The only free formula 850 known in existence and he wants to export it, tit.
Roll on my finances, to get the Mini's off the ground and get back to what I enjoy most.
Adam.
