After breaking the gear selector on out Golf GTi last weekend, blow me if exactly the same thing should happen to the ZS this morning as the gear selector rod popped out of the ball joint leaving me with only 3rd and 4th gear. While trying to crawl home I passed the Peugeot main dealer in Chipping Sodbury so decided to see if they could help.
The dealership had the car on a lift within 5 minutes and had it fixed in another 2. The best part was having all the mechanics and even the sales and office staff coming out to see the funny old Peugeot in the workshop. Everyone was grinning to see it! The mechanic was most impressed with the twin 40 dcoe's under the bonnet!
To cap it all there was no charge for the repair. I think they were just glad to have had it in (although I'm sure that a more major repair would have incurred some cost). Still it was good to see such enthusiasm for an older Peugeot. One of the mechanics had his grandson in who was very taken by the ZS, calling it a Mini Peugeot!
All in all probably the most entertaining breakdown I've ever had. Hats of to Peugeot Chipping Sodbury!
