I've been busy today too.
The drivers wing had a hole underneath the headlight so I decided to replace it this weekend. The old wing has been of for a while so I thought I'd better get on with it as the Golf is going nowhere and I can actually move it now I've rebuilt the suspension and driveshafts.
The wing is a pertemp replacement as I want to fit a steel flip-front next summer.
There wasn`t much of a flange left on the front panel so I butt welded a couple of strips of steel on and ground it back
Like so:
I had pre-drilled the wing
Like so:
And then plug welded it like so:
It was a cheap pattern wing so had to be bashed about a bit to get it to fit but looks pretty good now.
All I need to do now is prep it and paint it to match.
<note that only 2 wheel nuts are fitted as I hadn`t tightened the driveshaft nut yet and need to pop the wheel of to put a split pin in>
