The Volvo is due for a dose of spring hacking. I have just ordered some nice, safe looking spring compressors to do the job with as well. Angle grinder cleaned and new disk installed, ear defenders and safety goggles on hand. After months of looking at the picture of it shopped down, it'll be great to actually achieve it! I'm thinking 2 coils all round, but I bet we do 3...............you see, Rmad has promised to help! One slammed wagon coming up!

Is that it? Yes! OK, in progress pics. There's a toss up between doing it on Rmad's sloping drive, or my mountain of a drive. Some 4x4 timber blocks might come in handy then....... I have new anti roll bar links to install first and a rattle on the nearside strut to fix (simple I think) but that won't take long. Hopefully it will go down on Saturday if it's dry out.

Hey Hotwire, I think we may get spot on. There's 4 inches between the arch and the tyre which equals 3 coils. With Rmad swinging the grinder there's every chance it's gonna hit the floor!

yes, and no. There's quite a lot of painting to do, I'll need to get some plastic primer first. If it warms up a bit, maybe I'll start soon. We have an almost empty warehouse at work that I can use, but it's half an hour away from head office where I am so only Saturday mornings are available.
My wife's escort needs some electrical fixes on Monday for the MOT so I'll maybe start removing the bumper then as well.
Roll on warmer weather!

I've just been underneath it changing some other front suspension rubbery bits. There's just 6 coils on each spring, I reckon we're going to remove 3! GULP!!
