While I was popped intot he local wheel and tyre merchant today to see if they could adjust the camber on the ZS, I wandered over (as you do) to where the tyre monkey was nailing four new bands onto a Jag XK8. From over the other side of the workshop I thought the tyres they were fitting looked a bit big, so I had a shufty...
285/40 20!!!!!!!! Just how much does a set of those setr you back. I bet you could by a mint XJS for just the cost of the tyres on that one!

Blimey! That's probably why they used to say that for flagship cars like Rolls Shadows and XJ12s that you couldn't afford to buy one unless you could afford to buy two, stuff like tyres and basic servicing items set for something like that set you back what you could be paying for a whole regular car!

My brother-in-law (he of the silver RS2000) works at ATS. Got me my full-on stainless exhaust for £90. And there's never any labour to pay.
Result! ;D

No it's not the supercharged one, I think it's the 4.0l, he was just putting the finishiing touches to it for the paris tuning show last time I saw him. I got my 215/33ZR18s for 60 inc vat for my Celica, and they've got the smallest side wall I've ever seen

I never realised that tyres could be so expensive!! But then I paid only £50 each for the 165/80R15 Firestones on the Amazon, and about £25 each for the 145/80R13 Avons on the Sprite

Sort of related, my brother drives an artic and a few months ago he had to pick up a conatiner way out west here in Ireland, It was filled with 2 prototype Porsche 911's and loads of tuning and monitoring gear etc they were over here suspension testing. 2 things he noted a: Germans really don't have a sense of humour b: the back tyres on the next 911s are 305 wide, the back tyres on his Volvo artic are 315s!!
