What did you use for the throttle cable - I've got a pair of twin-carbs to go on my 67 Traveller, but want to go cable like you did, rather than the OTT mechanical linkage of the Farinas

Thanks. Exhaust works. Not too loud, sounding like a sporty MGB whihc is not surprising. No knocks or rattles which is good. Nice job on the Morris. Engine sounds good and picks up very well! I hope the perspex can live with the heat and the petrol as it looks good. If not: for my MGB V8 i also had to make K&N seats due to offset holes. I took 2 round pieces of 20mm plywood and clamped a pieces of 1mm SS sheet material which had a 10mm larger diameter and hammered the edge on. Polished these and had a pair of nice seats. Peter

The throttle pedal and bracket is from a Marina, bolted to a piece welded on to the brake/clutch pedal box. The cable runs through an exisiting hole in the bulkhead. You could probably modify the farina pedal by adding a rod that sticks up in a similar position and cut off the other end that pokes though the bulkhead. Nice job on the Morris. Peter Thanks, yes we'll see how they cope with the temperature but I don't think that will kill them. I might machine aluminium bases (or even a single lump) if it comes to it.

Progress has continued in fits and starts over the last couple of months partly due to work commitments and also a bout of man-flu. Primarily I've been trying to get the second hand drivers side front wing into good shape which has required repairs to the rear lower section, teh front corner, the headlight mounting panel and a couple of opther small bits around the headlight. Here's a couple of shots of some of that. The front wing is pretty much done now (mustn't forget the wing mirror hole!) and I've spent some time playing around with headlight possibilities and the grill fit. Next metalworking is to match the valance ends to the wings and generally sort out/finish the valance. Now that I had air filters and I wanted to run the engine up again, I knew the throttle cable bracket was a bit weak and moving around so I made a new chunkier version. In doing this I discovered that the bracket I had made to take a throttle return srping between the two carbs was actually interfereing with the linkage arms, allowing only about 1/2 throttle. So I re-sited the return spring to above the linkage rod, taking it to a hole in the new chunky cable bracket. Last week I also finally geot some old english white into the boot, concentrating on the inner wings which are visible but getting some ccolour across it all to make it all 'match'. My intention is to cover the floor in some clearish underseal type stuff to help preserve it but it will all be covered with matt anyway. I can route the wiring round to the rear lights now, and the air shock line, and fit the trim boards back in, so generally have this area 'finished'. Now a confession. With the whole photobucket thing I can't be bothered re-hosting and rearranging all the photos in this thread (or my others). Perhaps Hotwire will perform some web magic and it won't matter but it could well be that the thread up to this point becomes pretty much picture free. This post has used the RR picture hosting and that's probably what I'll do from now on.

I managed to squeeze some holiday dungeon time in this week. The first job was to re-fit the rear lights, running the loom back around, mounting the valve for the rear shocks and generally trial re-fit the boot panels. Some things might come out again but others may now stay. I can now also put some of the stuff stored in the interior of the car back into the boot which is nice. I'd left the wiring loom to the front of the car as cut ends near the slam panel and had decided that I'd pick a quiet day to sit and make up the new bits required. This week waas perfect. This meant fitting bullet terminals to those ends, making a new bit of loom across the slam panel and then making up new headlight looms using new three spade terminals and incorporating the side lights wires on a common earth. And now there is light. At the back there are now clear indicator lenses with amber bulbs. I still need to make a pair of matching properly red tail/brake lens as I have a few but of different orangey-red shades. (L551 if anyones got any!) And at the front. Side.... ...and head. The horn was also re-wired and loom run to it so that works too. Just the front indicators to do and I think I know what I'm using but yet to be 100% confirmed.

You can use red glass paint (from good craft shops) to get old lenses red again.

I knew there'd be something non-car related to do the job. I've two red lenses that have probably always been different shades and a couple of orangey red ones. So hopefully some glass paint will get me sorted. Cheers!

Thanks! Must be close to driveable? Yeah, it basically is now (some brake fluid would help...) though there is still work to do. I'm coming back round to the idea of painting it myself, mostly so that I will be less precious about it afterwards. But I don't want that process to take forever and its not quite at that stage yet so we'll see. Front wings and valance to finish and some work on doors to go. But it is good to see it in almost one piece. Fitting and making the lights work has made all the difference to that.

You don't want to put all this work into it and then not be able to enjoy it, kind of defeats the object. What are the paint plans? White over blue with black flames?

What are the paint plans? They're about 90% decided on but still subject to change! Won't be the same as it was, but again, by painting it myself, if I feel that its not my car anymore becasue its the wrong colour I won't mind too much reverting it to the blue/white/flames after a year or two.
