If they`re anything like me they were waiting for some new models - I bought a new-ish Focus 2 years ago as I was told that the new Rovers were a couple of years away Was actually going to trade in the Focus for a Rover if they bought something reasonable out this year Can`t help feeling sorry for the 20,000 Brummies facing an uncertain future now though

peugeot 206s are built in the UK and my sister bought a new one a year ago and its good. very good build quality and a nice sophisticated interior- unlike a rover 200, sorry, 25!

Don't get me wrong, they're a cracking little car... zippy, sweet handling, nice engines, comfy.... the only bits that let it down are the poopy brakes and that cack dash-stuff. 206SW is pretty high on the list of potential candidates for the next sensible family car. Incidentally we test-drove an MG ZR not so long ago. Quite entertaining in a way: handled nicely and you can rev the nuts off 'em, but the finish was so curse word poor that you'd be asking for trouble later on.... A bit like the village "bike"....OK to have a go on, but you wouldn't want to own one...

my sister test drove a 25 before, was really dull and just old!
the 206 is much better car, 1.4 FEVER, really stylish IMO and quick....

id take the zr over the 206, i don't get what the fuss is about 206 its so unbelievably dull the handling is pathetic i think considering good things such as the 205 used to come out of peugeots womb

it's upto you, but i'd rather have a relatively modern car that you know will still have dealer support in 3years than a rover 200 with a body kit which will be worth nowt and have no dealer back up.... 'nuff said

dealers are pants but they'll buy your car back after 3 years, will rover do that? your right tho, there are loads of motors out there that are better than a 206 and ZR.

I've driven the MG ZR and to be honest I wasn't overly impressed . Still felt like a Rover 200 (well of course it would! ). The ZT is cracking though! I think Rover did well to keep those old models going for as long as they did - they knew they didn't have enough cash to develop new models so they did the best they could. As for trying to blame the British public for Rovers downfall like the fella on the news.... what an idiot!

talking of car companies going under i was reading that Ford lose money on evey car they make except the f150 pick up in the states. the only way they make money is through offering credit/finance on their cars. however trouble has struck as the bakns they deal with have dropped their credit rating so they have to borrow £ at a higher rate of interest thus make even less money. if the banks drop it again they can keep going for about 6 weeks then its bye bye ford!

Do they not teach business studies basics to Ford execs? I'd have thought rule one was sell it for more than it costs to make!
