Went to Halfords this morning for an oil filter and fuel filter for the Sceptre.... on the shelf was a sign basicaly saying 'buy 2 get one free on Halfords own brand parts'... so I went to the checkout clutching my £3.49 oil filter and £10.49 fuel filter.... that will be £13.98 sir..... when I asked about the special offer the woman said you have to have THREE items to get one free.... ie BUY 2, and the third one is free. So I suppose the wording of the offer is technicaly correct.... BUT would you say it's a deliberately misleading way of putting it.... or was I just being my usual thick self?

Sort of see what you mean but to me it means pay for two items and get another free.

I can see what you're getting at, it does seem worded to catch you out doesn't it? Then again I'm always up for an "evil corporation conning people" conspiracy theory! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Could you not just get another oil filter for a few thousand miles down the line? It is a bit misleading I agree! I've boycotted Halfrauds since they started relegating the parts shelves to the back of the store to make way for over-prices "carbon fibre" bolt-on wibblepoo and camping gear

our local halfords has recently been 'revamped' , basically, move everything out of the way to devote 3/4 of the store to stereos, wheels and other boy racer curse word!

i've been to halfords for a few things recently.... 1) electric window relay - "oh no sir we only have flasher units or a spotlamp relay". so i asked to see the spotlamp relay, it was a standard switching one, exactly what i need. i said something along the lines of "ooh that looks like the one" only to be told in no uncertain terms "no sir, it's for spotlamps." i was going to buy it out of spite but not for £5.99! 2) fuel hose clips - special order only. went to another hellfords, a non-superstore up the road, and they had some in. erm? 3) touch-up paint - only if you drive a ford, or a red car it seems. anything out of the ordinary and they don't wanna know. didn't even have any Alpine White for the audi - a colour that's only been used on millions of VWs and Audis stretching right back to 70's beetles! in short - if it's not branded Ripspeed and decorated with pictures of slappers in hotpants they won't make a profit on it so they stop stocking it. luckily my local halfords has a motor factors type place opposite so i use the halfords carpark to go there

I must admit, I usualy go to a local motor factors, but I've found halfords are just as cheap on some things, they somtimes have some 'interesting' rattle can colours on the shelf, which give me ideas.... , and there's usualy some tupperware'd muppet-mobile in the car park to laugh at..... (and you can always spot the owner inside... he's the pasty faced, burberry capped numpty playing pocket billiards at the alloy wheel display... )

The Halfords here is pretty rubbish here, if I can help it I don't go in there, but there aren't many places that stock anything for Imps these days! I went in once to see if they done a few different servicing bits and stuff for the Imp, told them what I wanted, and they asked "what model is it again?" so I said that it's a Hillman Imp, and he said "I've not heard of that model, is it a Ford or a Vauxhall or what?", so I said, "no, I said it's a HILLMAN IMP, made by HILLMAN", at which point, he said "are you sure, it's not on the computer?" at which point I left after ranting various unkind things about Halfords and the condescending patronising eejits they employ to his equally useless supervisor. ;D ;D ;D

My Halfrauds sells 500ml of spray paint for £6.99. I'd rather eat Bernard Mannings toenail clippings than pay that much. My local auto factors: £2.50 for 500ml can. Plus, I get to speak to someone who actually knows what they're talking about rather than a schoolboy who's just cracked one off in the bogs over the cover of Lax Power magazine. No contest. ;D

I applied to Halfrauds for a temporary job as a cycle specialist, fixing and selling bikes, a couple of weeks ago as I'm out of work. I have been riding for nearly 10 years and have a degree in engineering and didn`t get the freakin' job. Probably gave it to some spotty, clueless 17 year old with a "MAXED" 1.2 Corsa with faded wheel arches like they all seem to have. And how annoying is it when some to$$er turns the bass on the speaker display right up, sounds "WIKID"
