Still busy painting, (no change there then) the grey panels have now been done in silver on the outer faces and are nice & shiny now. Inner wings are flatted off and done in grey primer ready for the silver basecoat. Scoop gets flatted off again and another primer coat laid on prior to some gloss,.....ooh goody More sanding and painting to follow......

Must be great to be nearing the point of fitting her all up again, all the prepping and painting will soon be a distant memory! Looking great, keep it up

Cheers Street, still a long way to refitting it all. Trying to paint all the little bits first so it wont matter if overspray gets on the car, so the body will be the last bit to get painted. Just had a look at the paint receipts so far,.........ÂŁ1,000!!!! EEEK!!! it sure mounts up quick, but hopefully I wont need to spend any more, as I think I've bought enough to finish it now.

Hi Chris, Nope the scoop is as shown, its reflecting the blue tarpaulin on the trailer, hence the weird colours. Ha-ha, only my best old jam jars will do, lol!

A busy night in the garage saw the previously shown panel looking like this; The other side panel got 2 coats of gloss grey on it, this will be silver on the other side. And the inner wings got 2 coats of silver followed by 2 coats of clearcoat.

Not too much progress as I was at the NSRA Supernats for the weekend, and also because the paint shop wont process my order??? had to ring them every day, and there's a hold up for some reason............I only want to spend my money with them......grrrrrrrrrr  Anyway, I had enough silver & clearcoat to do this panel at least.

This is an epic build mate , I don't think I have the patience to achieve these kind of results - I give thanks every day to the 'rat look'. Not being of the 'rod' ilk, that scoop still makes me go all funny ;D Long tunnel you're almost through fella - hope the paint order has been sorted. John

Thanks John, I gave the paint shop till tonight to sort it or I was gonna go somewhere else (& get better quality clearcoat) but they finally sorted it out, yay! Wont get it till thurs night tho I definitely have patience, but its amazing what you can achieve if you just try, none of it is rocket science you just gotta give it a go. I have rebuilt/modified a few cars in my time, but this is my first ground up build from scratch, so I learnt most stuff along the way, never done half of it before I started, so it shows anyone can do it if they have a mind to Go on, stretch yourself, you never know what you might achieve

Bit more progress, painted the inner wings (with the louvres) on the outer faces, but cocked it up a bit  I was in a hurry, so laid the coats on a bit quick, and the paint reacted clearcoat kind of went frothy, which turns out to be 'solvent pop' This is cos I laid the paint on too quick between coats so the solvents got trapped in the paint causing bubbles. Ho hum, learnt something new then. I flatted them back down (curse word job around the louvres) and laid on another coat of clear - and it was not good lots of pinholes came up, so bit the bullet and laid another coat on a bit heavy, which sort of fixed it but its a bit too thick around the louvres now hopefully it will flat & polish out, we'll see. If not I may well strip it all off again in the future, but its good enough for now, its only engine bay parts after all. Ennnnyyywaaaay........... Some better progress today, yay! I prepped the fuel tank for paint today, so last time you will ever see it in all its ally glory; And after a good coat of primer, grey primer tomorrow then it will be done in silver metallic. And also the dash panel,

Draggin this up from the depths again *Update time* Fuel tank is now dried off so I loosely assembled the bits back on, partly so they don't get lost, but mostly cos I wanted to see what they looked like Then moved on the the rear wing support, sanded it down and its now in primer waiting for topcoats to be applied. Finished spraying the brakes nacelle, made it harder for myself by painting inside gloss grey and outside gloss black, looks nice tho Dash panel is now all glossed up, cant wait to fit all the gauges First body panel gets painted, yaaay!! only primer coat here tho, But finished coat on inside looks shiiiiiny
