Love it, I had a Rover 414 box go poPPP, nasty squeal, nipped down the scrappy and liberated a R25 box, been in 18 months and a good rake of miles, not as cool as your " whole front end" where the heck did you find that.
I share the frustration of having a box out twice, been there with my lads Fiesta ST, long story but they come out and go in easier the second time, a certain déjà vous to the job.

Can't help thinking that with all the time you put into these not so special cars, put in the masser it could have been finished by now... Now that was an epic part of this thread to folow! You're absolutley right EG and i do feel a bit of shame about that, well quite a lot actually. don't worry though i am not going to jettison the Maser anytime soon and I'm sure it will be appearing on here again before too long, every time I see one on eBay I think 'UUUUHHHHH ULTIMATE WANT' then after a moment 'hang on, i've already got one of these', the lust is still there to have a complete, driving, one-colour Maser to just sit in a deck chair and stare at.

God, where are my manners? Boll, I'm breaking a 1995 214 SEi; the gearbox is yours if you want it and I may have other parts you need. Might still have some of the beige interior bits from my old GSI.

Did the seller have storage issues - that's an unusual chop job?

I for one will await the day it makes its reappearance in your updates! You've done a great job so far and your updates are always enjoyable... I'm not so good at that...

Jumping Jehovah! How on earth have I missed this thread over the years. I've sat and read/chuckled through the last 8 pages of it this afternoon. You, Sir, are a lej! And a P11 Primera GT lover too....it just gets better! Loving the Rover content. I've had 2 Nightfire Red Tomcats over the years. One a Rover powered 2 litre, the second one, a Honda powered 216. This was the 216, which I sold about 2 years ago.... I think of all the cars I've had over the years, they may not have been the best cars, but the colour mops and polishes up better than any other. Enjoying your Primera input too. Next time you're up in the NE, drop me a message Sir. Right, I'm now going to attempt to read the first 68 pages. Intrigued by the Maseratti references..........

So as usual with these updates, another old crate has joined the fleet. Also I have applied for the logbook so fingers crossed I don't get a letter off the DVLA telling me this car is flippin nicked or some such bo11ox. More soon!!!! ^^^ This is exactly the kind of Rover I was looking for when I bought this... It's even the colour I wanted! Really enjoying this thread fella, your talent and patience are clearly endless, keep up the good work and epic updates!!

Don't think I've ever seen a 3-door non-GTi/GSi version of these. Nice little rarity, hope it's a cheap fix. They did a 3-door SEi version; great little blaster. They do drive a little like a 205 GTI, complete with lift-off oversteer... 214SEi is one of my secret dream cars...in Nightfire too, just like the one in the pic.

214SEi is one of my secret dream cars...in Nightfire too, just like the one in the pic. Three door SEi's are rare now; theres still a few five-door ones that come up on eBay occasionally. Nightfire was the most popular colour, IIRC. Finding a 53k one with FSH, two owners, driver's airbag and the super-rare JDM YO! third brakelight - good luck with that

There's a Nightfire red 5-door SEi on eBay right now.

Best bit is when they do come up they're pennies - all 90's Rovers are at the moment and none of them are bad cars. My mate picked up a P-reg 416SLi auto on 44k with loads of history and nearly a full MOT for £332 last week, and it drives faultlessly.

Proper laugh there I'm hoping to make it to RRG in the Maser (well, mine not yours obviously), so you should be able to look at one and even drive it if you so wish, without even feeling bad about its next breakdown. By the by, there's a thread on the brown forum about a 222SE being rescued and it hasn't been updated in a while, I hope things are still going there as well.

Another closet Rover fanboy here. Had a 414Sli that I bought in Derby and ran for two years as a daily smoker, then drove it to Madrid for a year working there. It unfortunately had a leak from the perimeter seal on the head gasket while I was there so the next time I was home I filled a kit bag with a tools, new HG, bolts and cambelt etc and changed the HG in a quiet cul-de-sac the next weekend. That cemented a relationship of respect. I'll look after you and you don't let me down.. After another 6 months of smoking around Madrid, I turned north for a job in leicester doing the journey from Madrid to the Calais in one night. I sold it around 6 months after I got to leicester as another alfa was calling me. Lost £120 in 3.5 years, class piece of kit. Looking forward to seeing yours resurrected bol.

I had a ten year old 216GSi with 225,000 miles on it. Ran like a Swiss watch, brilliant bit of kit. Just spent a hour looking at them on eBay.
Nice save there btw.
