Yeah... so its not very retro, and not very cool, but I do have a certain fondness for it. I'm using it daily now that Nikki has the Stilo to use with baby George and the Merc is on a limited milage policy. No mods as yet, but I do have some wheels winging there way to me from the deep west. What ever I do will have to be very subtle, if anything. Its still Nikki's and was her first car and she doesn't want me to spoil it. As if I would. Any how, its almost certainly going to loose the rubbing strips if they are just glued on, and the spec decals on the boot. Other than that the wheels and maybe a little drop. I missed some -30 springs for £10 on ebay a week or so ago. I know, I know -30 isnt lowering, its giving a lift to a fat bird. But it would just close up the gaping space between tyre and arch a little. Here she is. And here she is with a subtle drop and the impending wheels 'shopped on. Feel free to enthuse, deride, 'shop or ignore to your hearts content.

OOOh 1.0 or 1.3? I drive my Grinmores 1.0 semi-regularly and it is a barrel of laughs to drive but about as fast as a slack jawwed yokels wits!

Just after the birth of our son a few years ago we actually had two in the fleet for reasons I won't bore you with. Both 1.0 16v but one manual and one rubberband-omatic.
I won't pull my punches, I hated them both with a passion.
Strange thing is though, that I couldn't fault either of them. They went, (albeit lethargically!), like clockwork and the only thing I did to either of them was replace a leaky brake piston/cylinder thingy. They both wafted through MOT's without as much as an advisory!!
I used the slushbox one for a wee while to commute the 40 or so miles to work while my Senator was in getting some fairly major engine work done. That was a laugh trying to get it to go over 65!!

It's 1 litre, what are they 998cc i think? Driving a revy little 16v after the merc is great fun, and its probably faster than the merc up to 50ish too. With the wider alloys (wearing 185's currently) it'll be a bit more like a go cart, the stock 155's are not the most inspireing things.

I'm still waiting for someone to take on my Urban Manx concept; Thats a Matiz, I know and the micra wont work with the bug eyes but that wont stop you from adding spotlights (smiley face covers??) and some knobley tires to solve your arch gap problems. What ever I do will have to be very subtle, if anything. don't look here www.micra.com.au/community/forced-micras.phpOr here www.micra.com.au/technical-articles/

Good choice of rims, I think they'll look great. Whilst pretty uninspiring I've driven the folk's Mk2 K11 Micra and for a 1.0 I was quite impressed - dare I say it it's even quite refined for what it is - uber cheap to run as well.

Good work mate, a few years ago I had a 1.0 and two 1.3's. There wasn't a great performance difference between the two IMO as long as you keep the wheel /tyre diameter fairly small on the 1.0. I promise you mate, lowering makes the world of difference on these, along with wider and lower rubber. Nice CE BTW!

Nearly a year has gone by since I visited this thread. None of the proposed plans have happened so far. The Toms wheels were bought and then sold, I couldn't be bothered with getting the centers machined to fit the micra hubs. I have made a few styling changes, Its been de stickered and de-rubbing stripped. I've also swapped the mankey wheel trims for some base spec wheel center hub caps. These would rule with the stock steels banded. This is too expensive at the mo so my current plans are somewhat different. I have some wheels, and they fit. I need to sort myself out with some tyres and wheels nuts before I can run them though, and I might be needing longer studs, I'll have to see how many turns I can get on with the correct nuts. If this comes together I'm still going to be needing some cash for the insurance increase that will go hand in hand with the alloy wheels and drop that it will require. As well as continuing to persude Nikki that I should be allowed to "ruin" her car.Hopefully I'll be able to do all this before Gathering. Please buy lots more EasyPCDs so that I can!!! ;D

Nice to see another one of these on here - even if it isn't that retro. I have a 1.3 GX which I've been running for the last 18 months or so. Being blunt I'm heartily sick of it & would love to change it for something else with a little more get up & go but I've little/no spare cash for a new/replacement car at the moment so I'm stuck with it for the forseeable (what little spare cash I do have is spent on my Zetec engined Reliant SS1 project ;D). I moved "up" to this from a 1989 Audi coupe quattro (too thirsty for my meagre wage & it was starting to play up a bit so I sold it before I got into spending silly money on it - lovely car though) & managed to find a few disgustingly cheap (& I mean DISGUSTINGLY CHEAP) bits for it from Ebay including: 30mm Spax lowering springs, strut brace (not really sure why & it was new but still reasonably priced), 4 Nissan 100nx alloys (£20 with 2 good tyres!) & finally a spotlight kit which bolted straight on & came complete with wiring loom, relay & even a new stalk with the spotlight position on it (no dodgy rocker swithch here). The lowering, wider alloys & slightly fatter tyres (175/65 x 14") have transformed it - though it's still not exactly a Lotus Elise through the bends In the time I've had it it has never (bar a bit of welding on the sill for the last MOT) thrown its dummy out of the pram, uses little/no oil, does about 35 - 40mpg & is surprisingly quick (though I'm not sure you could actually call it fast). I have to say that I like it (still want to change it though) & there are loads of worse cars out there I'm sure. Have a look on here if you need a bit of mainly UK based inspiration: www.micra.org.uk/

good stuff mark, as you know i had the same plan when i saw those rims for sale. however, i wouldnt have bought them had you not. i had to use my k11 for a few days last week when the benzo was grounded for a few days and i hate it! i dislike it so much i used the 500 to go to work (50 mile round trip).it ended up costing me about the same amount of money for 3 days as the 124 uses all week, but it was well worth it to not have to drive the hateful little micra. my hat is well and truly doughed to you sir for driving mrs S's for over a year.

welcome aboard chap nice to see a k11 join the scene the cg13 is an excellent engine (sop drop one in asap), a janspeed manifold and decat will see you to 100bhp straight away from the stock 75 and really does make for a pretty damn quick little car. then there are cams and a few other tweaks can see around the 130bhp mark from a N/A setup. ive seen a 1.3 turbo'd on standard internals with about 200bhp they really are very resiliant engines and seriously underated by most as granny-mobiles the cg10 isnt too bad either and with the above mods on the 1.0 80+ odd bhp isnt to hard to achieve. i had my k10 1.0 pushing near the high 90's bhp and man did it shift! head over to the MSC (micra sports club) for info and load of other useful bits n bobs

Well, I'm surprised by how much I like these little cars. I'll be tempted when I don't have such a big commute! Speedle has me thinking all kinds of naughty thoughts with that ^^^^ info! Glad you're getting somewhere with it, those wheels look surprisingly good!

Propper haters of the chopped coil method of lowering though!

Propper haters of the chopped coil method of lowering though! aint that the truth! i've been on the MSC for about 8-9 years now and never heard a positive word said about chopping springs yet on RR its a daily occurance I'm yet to see anyone on here have issues yet
