I was just going to browse ebay.fr for tat but unfortunately it won't allow me view anything automobile related. When I try and click on a particular ad to view it I get the following message:
Which translates as due to legal obligations on visitors from certain countries we must block you from view this. We hope you will view some other items on ebay.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

SOUND THE INSTA-LOCK TRIGGER SIREN! Look out, BC will be on your case with a big fat LOCK for this one..... Yes, basically they are blocking anyone coming in from a UK IP address, but then eBay has to operate a bit differently in France, because the French make their own rules which > eBay. TBH, we should do the same. If you use a french based proxy you should be able to by-pass it. Or just look on autoshite on a sunday night when M.plums goes F-bay tat-hunting

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

if you want to view the car adverts on french eBay, click on the item, then change the '.fr' bit in the URL to '.co.uk' and you're laughing. From the last post where the question was asked - and the one before that too Maybe we should make it sticky ;D

The search facility isn't brilliant i know but using two key words France and Ebay Search facility found this oneSearch facility found this tooIt also found the one we are in now and the one it appears that I rather hastily locked the other day I'll let all threads on ebay subjects run their full course in future untill someone says shouldn't this be a forum about retro cars rather than an ebay problem solving forum

This has come about due to ebays insistance on using paypal not going down well in france. Anyone from outside france cant view french ebay items if they don't offer paypal, so thats most cars and a few other things.
Either do as said above, change .fr to .co.uk in the URL, or go to tools, internet options, languages, then add french as a language and bump it up the list above english. This will let you see the items as normal. When you are finished on ebay.fr remember to delete french from the list or it puts all your google results etc into french.

I once logged onto Ebay France and then started getting a load of spoof emails from Paypal France asking me for account details.

I didn't know this was a browser setting, thought it was just sending the language of the OS by default... This is a great help to me as I'm in Finland using a Dutch Windows version and getting mad by Google always going for Dutch as a default while I'd rather see companies near me in Finland even if I don't understand Finnish well...

Yes, I live in France but keep my UK domain address, because of this I also cannot purchase from French e bay. To be honest French stuff is very expensive and you are not likely to pick up any bargains.
