From this: via this: to this: Ok so the rear lights are aweful but with a few tweaks it's got a whole bucket full of Ooooooffff. An awesome example of the colour making the car. nick

Is it wrong that I think it looked best when it was Pink?

Maybe i'm just wrong, but i always thought it looked quite good!
Is it also shameful to still have an almost complete set of Max Power mags? I have the very 1st edition, anyone remember the Cortina with Boso style wooden body kit?
Yes wooden, obviously painted, but it looked pretty good, i need to get myself a scanner to share them with you guys!

boso 'tina has been posted before. Project Mad Max was best when it was first done and didn't the guy who won it stack it royally? Or sell it on as he couldn't insure it...

Is it wrong that I think it looked best when it was Pink? I agree! Does look great in black too though. Goes to show that bodykits aren't all bad!

Back in black! looks great now, posh, mean and bodyshop fresh! amazing really for a car with history. I do like the lairy paint too for novely but for an easier life this is the modern win.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Black looks better because it hides some of the ugly lines of the kit.
Without the rear lights and odd plate design this is a pretty cool car.

I remember the boso tina, was a bit of a shed underneath if I remember right, there was a very nice bubble arched rover v8 powered mk1 escort as well plus some other retro win in the early issues, back in the days when "splat" graphics were cool ;D
seem to remember them doing a renault 11 turbo as a project at one point
I have a load of the early issues in my loft plus the free baseball cap that came with the first issue!

MaxPower (and revs) started off well, but went downhill. I think it's something that can happen to any "hobby" magazine or forum - its not so much that things get stagnant, but people go from being open-minded and looking at the final result, to over analysing the process and picking holes in things that look good, or sticking to the "rules" and building something mediocre, or even awful.
That Corrado has been modified well, mostly in a fashion that compliments the design of it (which imho is where most of the maxpower crew fail). I always think that a well modified car could almost look like how the initial draft to the board could have been, before the car was made practical and tamed down, which I think is something that Rado could almost be (I'm sure people will disagree!)

Really liking that 'rado now Quite liked it back when they first did it though Project Mad Max was best when it was first done and didn't the guy who won it stack it royally? Or sell it on as he couldn't insure it... You might be thinking of the yellow lotus carlton rep they did (complete with yellow three spokes and double spoiler) - the guy put it through a music shop window within a week or something. I think they started giving driving lessons away along with the project cars after that

I have loads of early max powers, before i'd even passed my test lol. I prefered RS Kicker, mk4 escort with whaletail and colour coded alloys centres etc I wonder how many of their project cars are still going?

When I was reading Max Power - Back in the day ;D The project cars I remember where:
The Mk 4 'scort above, An E30 with a Rieger Kit and split compomotives with a chequered flag paint job over the rear quarters, Project Thunder - Carlton with Lotus bodykit on and the double spoiler, 17" Antera 3 spokes in two shades of yellow. The Corrado above - IIRC, it had an airbrushed alpine install showing a desert scene! The last one that I saw was the Mk 5/6 escort with Porsche Karmin Rot (Pink) paint and a Mountune 250bhp NA engine - it was built in association with Ford as well - genuine rally kit on it I think...

Liking the Corrado, that's nice evolution of a car which has a heap of history. But yes, the rear lights are gash... I think they started giving driving lessons away along with the project cars after that It did indeed get bent. The ironic thing is that the crash showed up just how poorly built that thing was! They crushed it in a "wheel of death" feature, which showed up the poor paint that bodged, low quality bodykit. Still, they had taken the wheels off...but you would, they were quite desireable after all! I've got a copy here, it's being scanned as we speak.
