Well that was fun, but also a bit dissapointing. The old/retro car contingent consisted of 2 104ZS's and an immaculate 504 Ti. The rest was a sea of bling!
Good points were the number of people that appreciated the older ZS's as part of the history of hot hatches, the twin webers went down well, it's a different noise to the sound of a tweaked injected car with a big exhaust and one the "youngsters" are missing out on.
Also good was acess to the drag strip. Much laughing and pointing at the old car. managed to keep within a cars length of a Saxo 16v to the line but at that point it was begining to pull away.
Acceleration print out evealed a whole second lost to wheel spin at the start and a huge flat spot in the curve where the carbs are out. Best run was 11 dead so with a good tune and better technique it should be maybe just under 10 which is OK for a 1.3 I think.
Good to see the Ecosse motorsport 405 T16 eating a Cossie and WRX on the circuit - still in its French motorway police colour too (funny). Also seeing many engines going bang as young lads realise that racing on a circuit i not like a quick blast down the motorway as far as the engine is concerned!
What we need is a show with older cars that retains the activities too. Sounds like the...Retro Cars Show
ps How sad are those horrid wheels that keep spinning when the car stops!
