I had an interesting chat with a VOSA inspector today... to backtrack a bit, I got pulled for tinted front windows in the Ital, so slapped wristies, £30 fine and a Prohibition Notice (which I drove home on...) and then I had to book a VOSA inspection.
Anyhow, VOSA Inspectors (three of 'em, bless 'em!) arrived this morning, and while one did the "Oh yes, the tints have gone, let me print out the cancellation form", the other stood and had a chat with me about the Ital, the Banham remains and life in general. He was very p*ss*d off that the job had degraded into chasing up, as he put it, "bloody stupid things when we've got more important things to do...". I mentioned that I'd had the tints on for about eight months and hadn't been pulled, even passing through a Police/VOSA checkpoint in Yarmouth at night; he showed no surprise and stated the Police are getting more inconsistant with their stops, but are unwilling to do anything about what is a serious problem which is luxury 4x4's being fitted with illegal tints from the dealerships, which once again they get sidetracked into dealing with. Anyhow, things are now fully legal, and the inspectors wandered off to go and see if they could deal with any real issues. There was more, but I won't go that deep.
